Unlike the typical heart attack, SCAD is relatively uncommon and often impacts younger, otherwise healthy individuals. SCAD occurs more often in women than men. Research is needed to answer fundamental questions such as what causes SCAD and what are the best treatment options.

To learn more about SCAD and the latest research findings, join us at 1:00pm. Cardiologist Dr. Sharonne Hayes, who leads the SCAD research team at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) and chairs our Scientific Advisory Committee, will be our presenter. Everyone is welcome.

Join us for our 4th run/walk to raise money for research on Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD).  SCAD is a cause of a heart attack and death not associated with the typical risk factors of heart disease.

The chip-timed 5K trail run/walk will take place on a certified crushed limestone course at beautiful Danada Forest Preserve located in Wheaton, IL.  The trail winds through the preserve's prairie, woodland, and marsh habitats. Last year's participants came from across the US, Canada and Sweden.  Register by April 18 to guarantee a 5K t-shirt.
