I would give it more stars if I could. This is a gem in the heart of Manhattan not just because of its ideal location but more because of the excellent people. They are super helpful and friendly. This hotel is simple but comfortable. Cozy breakfasts and happy hours chatter make it feel welcoming and homey. It's on Restaurant Row with Greek, Italian, Brazilian, Irish, Egyptian, Spanish, Thai, Japanese and Chinese eateries just minutes away. We passed by the Richard Rodgers theatre everyday, stood in line for Hamilton ticket cancellations, saw the cast come at around 10:30 and finally splurged to buy resale tickets and watch the show. Totally worth it! I'm convinced we watched the show only because of where our hotel was located. Times Square is a block away—close enough to see the madness but far enough to sleep away from the lights and sounds. The wonderful staff really made the week in NYC worthwhile for us. I hope we can return to NY again and again and I'm sure this will be our home away from home from now on. Loved it! Thank you Susan, Jackie and everyone else at 414 Hotel who made our New York experience unforgettable.

Nice hotel with very friendly staff. The breakfast is a great start to the day and you must eat on their back patio of the weather allows for it. Rooms not facing the street are very quiet. The rooms were clean but do show their age in a few places (scuffed furniture, paint chips, etc) I would stay here again and the location/price is a great value.

My wife and I have just returned from our stay at the 414 in New York. We absolutely loved it. The hotel has got a really homely feel to it. As soon as we stepped into the hotel we were given a very warm welcome by Drew .. great guy. The following day we met Strawberry (yes that's her real name) and she was just as nice. It turns out all of the staff and the owners are genuinely nice people who care about your stay. Location-wise it's just right ... near enough to the action (e.g. Times Square) to walk there, but far enough away to make it quiet at night. And being mid-town Manhattan, you're central for travelling to all of the New York boroughs. We stayed in a room in the separate building behind the main building ... very quiet at night! It seems that the 414 also has a bit of a rare jewel for New York ... a quiet courtyard at the back of the main building .. lovely to sit and have breakfast there. Whilst we were there, NY experienced a bit of a heatwave, but the air conditioning worked fine. We're new to NY so we had a lot of questions and the staff were always glad to help and were a wealth of knowledge. If and when we go back to NY, we'll be heading to the 414 again.

This is located in a residential neighborhood but only two blocks from Times Square. They have a nice happy hour every night where you can meet other visitors. The hostess is very knowledgeable about the local area.

We stayed at the 414 hotel last week for 5 days. The owner Susan and the rest of the staff were very kind and really helpfull all along these 5 days, respect for all of you guys...Clean rooms, great breakfast and superb location near Times Square! Wifi works very well in the whole building (wich isn't always the case in every hotel...) We got to use their 2 bikes (with helmet and lock, for free!) and went for a ride trough Central Park and along the Hudson River: best time so thanks again for that...We hope to return with our son within a few years, hope to meet Susan and her staff again!

I was very happy to find a small, intimate place to stay on a relatively quiet street - yet so close to Broadway/Times Square/etc. The staff was consistently friendly & accommodating. This was my first time staying in NYC, and the room wasn't anywhere as tiny/claustrophobic as I've always heard about NYC hotel rooms. The A/C struggled to maintain a decent sleeping temperature - set it to <70 degrees, but I doubt the room ever dropped below 72-73. This was in July. Not the end of the world, it's about the only quibble I had w. our stay.

We're so glad you found us, Robert! Thank you for choosing to stay here, and I'm very happy to hear that your room was spacious and the staff took great care of you. I'm very sorry if your room didn't get as cool as you would have liked, and I hope you let the front desk know that you were having an issue. I'd love to welcome you back again someday to perfect your experience! All the best, Susan Yates, General Manager
