- Yay! These look more dramatic to me!

I will have fun posting about these on August 15, September 1st and September 15th. I have a lot to learn about Kummer quartics - as

+Artie Prendergast-Smith pointed out, these are the most interesting of the surfaces with maximum number of ordinary double points. He also pointed me to some interesting things about the Cayley cubic. So, now I have a nice excuse to learn and explain a bit of algebraic geometry. Thanks!Aug 8, 2016 - Looking forward. The wikipedia article about kummer surface is spooky.Aug 8, 2016
- +Abdelaziz Nait Merzouk why spooky?

Is it because

the mathematical values are transitory, changing from one to the next...

like the energy transformations of quantum sub particles?

If this is a dumb question, just ignore, i am trying to get my arms around math through some kind of self made non-math intuition..

i am glad +John Baez uses your images to explain things i do not understand, but something sinks in v. vaguely.Aug 31, 2016 - I think I know why he says it's spooky, but I'll let him explain!Aug 31, 2016
- Well... Saying that it is spooky was more or less a joke. It was about the Wikipedia article itself. To understand it I have to understand say 10 new concepts each of them requiring 10 new other concepts to be understood ...etc. No chance to understand anything unless I go back to school for two or three years.

After taking a look at +John Baez article in visual insight... It is still spooky :o) :

"...Jacobian variety": Humm... I know what is a jacobian and to some extent what's a variety but what is a "Jacobian variety"?... Let's click the link... The first sentence in wiki article is: "In mathematics, the Jacobian variety J(C) of a non-singular algebraic curve C of genus g is the moduli space of degree 0 line bundles. It is the connected component of the identity in the Picard group of C, hence an abelian variety." ...What?!Sep 11, 2016 - +Abdelaziz Nait Merzouk Mathematical joke?

i am so dumb and deaf mathwise, i did not get the joke..

2-3 more years of school? that now is spooky..

My mind roamed like this, on hearing 'spooky'

I thought spooky in the real world sense, new concepts egerging from the old ones resembled the old ones in a mystic way, or spooky way.

For example let me quote a human habit pattern, a man breaks up with a girl friend, because even though he loves she is way too annoying...

Then a couple of years later he finds another girl he is happy with, finds out she has the same annoying ways... breaks up finds another one two years later....pattern repeats several times...

Kind of spooky right?

But then this happens in real life. Believe me.

Is this like the abelian variety?

+John Baez

now you genius! you said you knew what spooky meant here.

Go ahead, tell us +Abdelaziz Nait Merzouk did.....

love to both of you...Sep 11, 2016 - +Shantha Hulme when +Abdelaziz Nait Merzouk said the Wikipedia article was "spooky", I guessed he meant it used a lot of advanced math. I was right.

That's a different kind of "spooky" than you're talking about.

It can be exciting, or scary, or depressing to suddenly realize there's a whole lot more math to learn. It happens often to me.Sep 11, 2016 - +John Baez thanks John, for taking the time.

'Spooky' not what i thought, but the answer still helps...

My mind is on a totally different journey, and +Abdelaziz Nait Merzouk images and your high lighting them, present quite an adventure for me.

It is sort of i am playing a mind game, seriously to be rid of desire. which the two of you would say is impossible...

But you shed some light on it, unknowingly.

"Endrass octic" showed me how the mind works...unstoppable proliferation of thought,

but one can sort of manage it to a degree of calmness, and not let it go wild.

the spookiness here in both senses make sense now.

The issues one faces resemble the old ones..

habit patterns hard to fight, like stuck in mud.

'Spooky' in the sense of difficulty..is also true.

At the beginnig i thought i could easily do it...

But just as i think i have solved one problem...

another arrives from out of the blue like a tsunami..

Now how does one handle a Tsunami or like in a game of chess, an impossible move.

John might understand my trend of thought better....

But the whole time during the game, one must shut the door to all sorts of annoyance, hatred, and misreading and just be so full of love to all persons, and mind has to stay calm like the clear sheet of glass on a lake by the foot hills.

There, that is my game. A sweet time to you, whether it be morning or night.

Call me nuts!

Of course one must maintain the greatest sense of humor, through it all.

Games need to be playful.Sep 12, 2016
