"What we have today is not a market, it is a huge, unfair, subsidy scheme that will end in tears (for taxpayers and ordinary citizens)."

Understanding 'Occupy'. Read it and learn. Here's a question that a Professor may ask you after you read this article. "Why is the Occupy movement more prototype than protest?"
Douglas Rushkoff: With a consensus building approach to change on social and economic issues, the movement is more prototype than protest

This might be the best steve jobs quote ever..... really.

"When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you're life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again."

1%, 99%, 53%---

Is it conceivable that 'we are what we think'?

Is it possible that EVERYONE is right according to what they think?
Occupy Wall Street has created a backlash movement, whose participants proudly proclaim they are the 53% of Americans who are responsible and pay federal income taxes.

I'm happy to report the Kronish has been purchased and demolition has been averted.

I want to thank Mayor Brucker and the City Council of Beverly Hills for agreeing with my request for allow time before demolition of Richard Neutra's 'Kronish' 9439 Sunset Blvd, Beverly Hills. I spoke at the Beverly Hills City Council meeting asking them to 'delay' the proposed demolition so I can put together a group of private investors to buy it for restoration. The LAConservancy asked for a historical ordinance to be put in place and the property be spared.

Although we do not know who purchased it as of yet. It is clear without all of our efforts the property would have been demolished.

I want to thank my investment team, Joe El Rady, Sharbel El Rady for their time and consideration also.

This is a significant historical architectural treasure and one very dear to Beverly Hills and the West Coast.

I'm very proud to be part of this cause. Richard Neutra is a very important artist of our time and this property will give the future generations a peak into a modernist genius.

I also want to thank Dion Neutra, Linda Dishman from the LAConservancy for helping me and for giving her time and also the countless people that participated from the conservancy.
The Richard Neutra -designed Kronish house in Beverly Hills has sold for $12.8 million. In April, the iconic residence came on the market for the first time in more than 30 years, listed at $13,995,0...

Most accurate simulation of the universe! Amazing.

Grand Simulacrum
Bolshoi is a russian word meaning great or grand, and is an accurate descriptor of the Bolshoi simulation, the most accurate cosmological simulation of the universe made to date. Researchers from the University of California High-Performance Astrocomputing Center and New Mexico Stat University have started releasing data from the simulation this month, giving us the basis for much of the current research on the structure and evolution of the universe. The original measurments came from NASA's WMAP Explorer mission, which has been mapping the light of the Big Bang in the entire sky.

"These huge cosmological simulations are essential for interpreting the results of ongoing astronomical observations and for planning the new large surveys of the universe that are expected to help determine the nature of the mysterious dark energy"

The video below shows a visualization of a fraction of that data, depicting dark matter in 1/1000 of the entire cosmological simulation. I'd check out the vimeo version in the link as well, the music makes it a great experience :)
