I ordered a grilled cheese and it tasted processed and was extremely dry. Also I didn't feel very welcome. The only thing I liked was the overly expensive brownie.

Once located across the street from the Arch downtown, this venue is on the outskirts of the main drag but it still offers a little something more than your typical fast food or even Five Guys on Broad. The service is great but the food is just as greasy and nasty as you'd expect from a fast-food style joint. The slaw and orange slushee thing are really the hidden gems of this place and I stop through on occasion just to get one or the other as a guilty pleasure.

The only thing I did not like was the fries. The lil burgers was good, but not worth the price if you ask me. The hot dogs are excellent. That's about it. Wish I would have saved those 8 dollars and went to 5 guys!!!

If you're expecting quality similar to the Atlanta location, you're going to be disappointed.

Took my family to Athens Varsity and was VERY disappointed. First off the pitiful excuse of employes that were sitting on the counter barely moved when we came in. It was a Sunday afternoon and there was 4 employees sitting on the counter. ONE got up to ask what I would have. I ordered and as I was ordering a man came up to get a refill. He was charged $1.25 for a refill and he paid. WTH? I paid and thought it was odd because I have ate Varsity for years and never had to pay. I sent my son up there for his refill and promised him he wouldnt be charged but he came back to the table crying. I immediately went up to the counter and he had been told he wasnt getting his drink back unless he had .75 cents. I realized that the employees were charging for refills and not Varsity. i asked the Athens PD officer that was there if the manager was there and he said no. So there was no manager on duty with 8-12 employees working? Why do I need an Athens PD on patrol IN the restaurant anyway? They obviously hire the left overs from the other places in Athens that wouldn't take them. Calling the manager today and will update!

Not what I expected. Hot dogs are small & boiled. Fries are horrible. But the Vanilla milkshake was awesome.

WADDAYA HAVE?! Look, I know I'm giving it all goods across the board, but everyone has to eat at the Varsity at least once! Despite the greasy horrible for your body foods, the relatively high cost for a hot dog joint, and the WADDAYA HAVE & keep moving attitude you'll get... I keep going back for more. Something about those hot dogs and fries that reminds me of being a kid! Bottom line, if you haven't been, go! If you've been, you know there are 100 more better places to eat in Athens... but you'll probably end up here again at some point :)

My last greasy! Not one that I would suggest. Used to be good.
