I disagree that questioning while reading is "a little A.D.D.", as you put it. To me, it shows the sign of a good reader. Asking questions are one of the first steps to investigating a text and finding all of these other wonderful layers within. For example, the horrible accent could be signaling an uneducated child. Working, if it isn't on a map, would hint at a made-up world, meaning the piece is probably a sci-fi, which would explain the being that is in the pit. The rate at which you read doesn't mean that you don't read well, it just means that you investigated more than others probably did.
