Philip Opp is the retired resident 3D animation, graphics and digital imaging
guru of the Animation Annex. Phil has been an imager since 1971 when he
was a contract shooter for the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post.
After a short sojourn as a Photographer’s Mate in the United States Navy, Phil went on to manage the photographic studio and laboratory for Lear Siegler, Inc.
Later Phil worked in 35mm and 16mm film in the Denver commercial industry. This would eventually build into a video business that would land him a position at Ball Aerospace & Technologies in Boulder, Colorado as Manager of the Video Production Department.
During his 10 years at Ball, Phil captured video of launches, documented projects for the Strategic Defense Initiative, created two employee news programs and Learned 3D computer animation. Phil has done animations for NASA, The Space Telescope Institute, Boeing, the Army Corps of Engineers and has had animation shown on TLC and the Discovery Channel. Phil retired effective January 6th 2013.
