Don't worry G+, we didn't forget about you!
Listen to Episode 17 of LASER:
We discuss a realistic computer simulation of an entire universe, a proposed mechanism and prevention for tin whiskers (that destroy sensitive electronic devices in computers, notably satellites), and the use of GaInSn liquid metals as rehabilitative nerve grafts in frogs. Also we become "the buzz feed of podcasts" by talking about neckbeards, monty python, yak bak, and breaking into strongbad techno.

On this week's episode we're joined by the aerospace engineering hosts of Technically Speaking to discuss future applications of high-altitude airships for scientific research in planetary science, astronomy, earth science, and environmental monitoring. Our second story is about a company planning to ramp up Lithium metal "mining" in order to meet the needs for the Tesla Motors "Giga Battery Factory." This show is super neat, check it out!

A great interview with Jack and Liz from the ASU Dust Devils Microgravity Team about their upcoming experiment that will observe dust clumping in microgravity to teach us more about planet formation, ALSO Chase and Cameron talk about fighting fires in space and on the ISS (BASS Experiment), and then the plans for the Cold Atom Lab, which will create the coldest temperatures we've ever reached to study and perform experiments with quantum mechanics!

Episode 12 went up this morning! Chris and I discuss a paper about 3-d laser printed microarchitecture bio-inspired by bone structures. Then a discussion on converting human cremated remains into synthetic diamonds. Finally, we talk about using laser light interference to trap polystyrene beads into a plane to make a mirror.

This week's show is pretty sweet. We talk about designing semiconductors for the defense industry, and lead-free solder problems, DARPA and Google robotics, proposed e-sail space propulsion, and the extension of the ISS mission, and we make star trek jokes.  Check it out! http://www.laserpodcast.com/2014/01/episode-9-space-robots-from-the-future/

Viruses modified to build batteries?! Lithium-Selenium Sulfide batteries?  Microbiological Fuel Cells with loofah electrodes that use Bacteria to turn trash into energy?! Listen to episode 7 of LASER or else you won't have any idea why we used so many exclamation points.  http://www.laserpodcast.com/?p=89
