Hi everyone! I am Susan Barrett-Kelly. I am a learner. My immediate need is to learn how to get everything done that has so abundantly crossed my plate in the past month. Professionally, I have a small human capital consulting practice and  on my blog, I am The Development Sherpa.

Look forward to this experience over the next weeks.

You are so sweet, Karla. Thank you. My blog has been the victim of my pace recently. Plan to get back to it.

How are you?

Story
Introduction
I started life as Suzy Barrett in Salem, Ohio. Today, I am Susan Barrett Kelly living in Evanston, Illinois.  (Friends tell me that I’m the only person they know who married and changed their first name.)

I won the “husband lotto” when I married Peter Kelly in 1995. He has four magnificent sons who came along as part of the deal. Each of them makes me more hopeful about our future. Two sons and their beautiful wives have children, making me aka Nana to Vikram and Lucy.

For many years ( think decades) I worked for Kraft Foods. In 2010, I followed a long time dream and opened my boutique consulting firm, SBK & Associates. I have found my place.

In addition to growing my firm, I volunteer as part of the HR Committee for UCAN, a Chicago Based social service agency dedicated to helping youth who have suffered trauma to be leaders of tomorrow. And, they deliver! I also give back to my undergraduate alma mater, Kent State, by service on the National Athletic Development Council which supports Division I Athletic programs. Each time I interact with student who balances being a citizen, scholar and athlete, I am reminded that I, too, can do more.

Finally, this fall, I started as a coach to an impressive cohort of graduate students in the Northwestern MSLOC program. I’d like to bottle their energy and intent for their future.
