We frequently intentionally train our canines, however, we often unintentionally train our canines too. When we ask them to learn a new behavior and take out those treats we are teaching them a behavior intentionally. When they come and jump up on us when we are sitting on the couch and we pet and or praise them, we are also teaching them to jump on us. Can you think of something you unintentionally taught your canine? I would love to hear from you!

I unintentionally taught our last dog Mokah to bring us a toy for a treat. How did I do this? I thought he looked so cute with a toy hedgehog in his mouth that I would give him a treat each time he had the toy. Then he started bringing me the toy and I would treat him. Then he started asking for treats by placing the hedgehog on my lap.  All because I rewarded a behavior! Our canines are watching us and learning from us all of the time, just like children! Be aware of your actions! They can result in behaviors that are desired as well as undesired.
