We hope you are all looking forward to the next Faculty of Podiatric Medicine Journal Club on Thursday 20th October 2016 (17:30 - 18:30).

Fellow of the Faculty Emma Cowley (Lecturer in Podiatry, Plymouth University) will lead discussions on the following paper:

Leibovici, L. (2001). Effects of remote, retroactive intercessory prayer on outcomes in patients with bloodstream infection: randomised controlled trial. BMJ : British Medical Journal, 323(7327), 1450–1451. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC61047/

It is easy to be biased in our interpretation of an articles findings. Our past experiences, education and our own beliefs can make it difficult to take a step back and review an article simply on the material presented and results and methodology. This article has capacity to challenge or bolster enshrined personal beliefs and yet our task at this edition of journal club is to review it based on its academic qualities.

Fellows, Members and Associates of the Faculty should email allan.thomson@rcpsg.ac.uk to arrange to join the discussion via video link (OR) to confirm attendance at the RCPSG for the journal club session which will be held in the Board Room at 19 Blytheswood Square.
