Missed the submission deadline for my Coursera homework by 1 minute because my code was buggy.
I forgot that octave starts indexing arrays at 1 not 0. GRRRR!!!
On happier note my homework is taking less and less time as the course goes on. I could have finished earlier tonight if I hadn't dorked around for 15 minutes looking for an octave equivalent of index_of. I must remember that for this course doing the obvious thing is usually sufficient.
Snorkeling Attempt 2: Success! I saw fishes and corals. It looked like a tank at the aquarium but waaay bigger. Lessons Learned: 1) My instinct to immediately blow all my air out my nose does not help. 2) Fins are amazing. 3) Listening to Ryan is helpful. 4) Being further out from the shore is easier than being near shore where the waves break. 5) Breathing deliberately and keeping my lungs full helps me float and stay calm. 6) I don't know how to dive and I look like a doof when I try. 7) When you cut yourself in salt water it doesn't hurt until you get out. Water temperature doesn't seem to matter (I knew this from swimming in puget sound but I thought it was because the water is cold).
Hi New Folks! Several people have added me in the last week. If you are primarily interested in nerdy things I recommend you follow my twitter @thagomizer_rb or read my nerd blog at http://www.thagomizer.com.
I'll try to remember to post links to new blog posts here as well but I guarantee I'll forget sometimes.
