Despite its flaws I personally prefer the launch version of BF3 (or older BF's) over anything that's happened in the franchise since. There have been positive changes in the series that were community influenced but I can't help but notice that, at least in my opinion, BF has gotten become completely run-of-the-mill as it has drawn new audiences and forum threaders. In the end, its pretty clear that we are represented by a few prominent members of the BF scene and there is no doubt a massive portion that often does not agree with the changes that happen--and often for good reason. I'm not pinning the blame for the series' state solely on the community interaction but "we" are at least partly responsible at this point. Most gamers are too emotional. Too passionate. Too selfish to try to change the game in a way that benefits more than themselves. EA/DICE/Visceral want what the community wants because it represents more sales. The "community" should want the DICE vision that has been so clearly lost.
