Made a new blog post about what's been most interesting about working on Cover, and Android in particular.

It's been a fun, long day. Here's a picture of our glowy sign at the office - it's been motivating me every morning when I get in. :)

Just resharing our launch video!
I'm excited to share what I've been working on. We think your phone should adapt to you and get smarter over time and we are lucky to build on the amazing platform that is Android.

Excited to share about Cover, the Android project I've been working on recently! The more apps you use, the harder your phone becomes to use - so we're trying to make that easier by using your lockscreen to get you the right apps at the right time.

At some point, I'd love to be able to try out porting some of my games (including our brand new kids' game Yum Num's Galaxy!) to Android devices (especially those snazzy new tablets). One of the characteristics of Android development that I've heard about but don't really understand is the binary size requirements placed on apps available through the Google Play marketplace. I used to hear that there was a 50MB limit on the APK files distributed through the marketplace, and I remember hearing the limit was effectively lower on certain devices.

Does anyone know from personal experience how the new "Expansion Files" system works in practice? Coming from the iOS side, where there's no external storage, it seems like a pretty complicated system. Does it only work for newer devices or OS's, and is it pretty rock solid, or does it require a lot of support/workarounds for various devices? Are there a lot of edge cases that have to be prepared for? Are there some devices that can't even fit 50MB?

Help Captain Yum Num make delicious recipes for hungry aliens in our brand new kids' app for iPad, Yum Num's Galaxy!

I collaborated with Anthony Wu (anthonygoes.com) and Adam Robezzoli (attractmo.de), two very talented dudes, to make this! If you're a parent who thinks your kid would enjoy using a tractor beam to collect ingredients floating in a food asteroid belt, follow these links for more information!
