Good room with mini fridge and microwave. Having a restaurant inside the hotel is so helpful and it has awesome views. We were more than happy with the free continental breakfast. Pool, hot tub and peek views of ocean are bonuses. It took us apx 20-25 minutes to walk to town, Old City Quarter and the main Harbour but we enjoyed. Bus service is available from hotel (bus every 40 mins) go to BC Transit dot com. Petroglyph Prov Park is a shorter walk the other way. It wud have taken 2-3 buses to get back to Departure Bay Ferry Terminal so we decided on a taxi cost apx $16-$18 plus tip.

Usually stay here when working in Nainamo, it is everything I excepted from a hotel at this price point. Clean, and people are nice. Free breakfast is not the greatest, WiFi is ok, and there's no gym or slide for the pool. rooms are a tad nicer than other hotels we stay at. This part of town isn't the greatest, you will have to drive to do anything.

Jan 29, 2015 and I just finished my 63 breakfast here and it was adequate, albeit the pan-fried potatoes I'd saved towards the end of my meal were prolly warmed by the ambient room temperature... what a disappointment for the start of my day recovering from a nasty cold. I should have prepared myself considering that the car's windows were icy. The End > "(_!_)"

I will never ever stay there. The non-smoking room is full of smoking. I booked and paid the room with two beds and they give me a bed and a sofa bed and told me that's all they have. When I almost got cancelled, they give me another room with two beds. I don't understand why they don't give me the correct room at first place. Also, I booked two rooms together and end up with two room far away from each other and on the TWO different levels, in order to get to the other room i need to walk for 5 mins. After the housekeeper cleaned the room, he or she took all my towels, so when i come back to my room i got nothing for shower. They charged me for a crib, but only gave me a playard without any pillow or blanket. When I asked them for one, they gave me one with hairs all over it (hairs with different colors). I asked again, got another one with same issue. When i gave up with the blanket and asked for a duvet, they told me they don't have extra duvet. Luck for me, they finally found a blanket just came out from washer. That really made me wonder how often they wash their blankets. Overall, I will never ever stay there and I will told all my friends to not stay there. One more thing, the beds there is really uncomfortable, and i couldn't sleep.

firstly, we had 2 rooms, in 1 of the rooms the window was unable to lock, making it dangerous, when we asked for help all they did was be rude and said "this isn't vancouver" which we didn't even mention! also about the window the lady working there continuously kept saying it's not dangerous or i can't fit my head through it, its not about that, its about us feeling unsafe and they didnt understand. secondly, the wifi was horrible and didn't work AT ALL! next, right when we entered the hotel premises it smelt HORRIBLE! all throughout the hallways, inside and outside the hotel was disgusting. also, our air conditioning did not work and it was VERY hot! when we asked the lobby people to come and check it out, he cut us of and said "well what am i suppose to do?". he came and kept us up so late and told us it would take over and hour to work but the lady before said it would only take 10 minutes, obviously they did not know what they were doing. and one of the worst thing is that the back door, where anyone could sneak in, the sign on it says it closes and locks at nine, but when i woke up at 11 at night it was still wide open! it was very scary and dangerous! lastly, the breakfast was HORRIBLE, the toasters did not work, there was no milk, AND there was no variety. overall it was a horrible stay. staying in that hotel was just like staying in the middle of the ocean not being able to swim or float. i recommend you shouldn't stay here because all you will be is disappointed. i was very upset about this hotel and their staff, and if you do stay there, good luck you'll need it!

I searched for a long time for a breakfast buffet in the Nanaimo area, giving up, then discovering the most wonderful buffet here. What a selection! Fresh salads of many types, cold cuts, croissants, Eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, lasagna, Asian style breaded mushrooms, great selection of desserts, you name it. I absolutely loved it and will return every Sunday.

If you want to be treated with ZERO respect, than you've come to the right place. As soon as we walked into the front doors, the lady behind the desk was glaring at us. We normally wouldn't stop at such an over priced boring hotel, but we were tired and our feet were sore from travelling all day. We had taken the ferry and had been walking and hiking for around 6-7 hours. We just wanted to sleep and rest our feet before getting up and travelling again. I had called earlier to ask how much a room would cost, and she told me 99$. Once we asked for a room, she took my credit card and charged 109$ we asked as to why it cost more than we called, and she proceeded to tell us that if we would like, there is a motel down the road for about 20$ cheaper. My husband and I walked aside to talk about it, but decided we were too tired to walk anymore, and would just stay here. When we approached the desk again, we told her that we would like a room, and she said that she thinks we should just go to the motel down the road. My husband said kindly, no, I think we just want to stay here. She then told us that she thinks we should go. She told us that she had "concerns" and that she has the right to refuse service if she feels the need. We then left. I have NEVER felt so insulted in my entire life. I had tears in my eyes, and I couldn't figure out why we would not be allowed to stay in a less than satisfactory hotel. My husband and I are a young happy married couple, we both have very good jobs in Vancouver and was on a trip to the island for the first time in our lives. After we left, we had to walk for another hour until we found an amazing place, where we were treated with respect. The only thing that I can think of is that maybe we looked tired because of hiking and walking all day. We don't look mean or scary or dirty, or anything like that. I was APPALLED at the nerve of this lady and not only will I not recommend this hotel to people (we travel a lot, and have a lot of friends and family who travel as well) but I will actively make sure that nobody I know ever goes this hotel. Also, from what I saw, the lobby was outdated and quite dirty.
