I love the title of this piece in the print edition of the Globe and Mail today, "Charcuterie Crusaders."

Luke Barr (Provence, 1970) just published a fascinating historical narrative, "Ritz & Escoffier," that focuses on the ten year period the pair spent at The Savoy in London. There are lavish parties and the kind of scandal we associate with celebrity chef culture today.

I loved the book (and writing this piece for Taste Cooking)!

I loved writing this piece on Cameron Stauch's new cookbook, Vegetarian Viet Nam. We go way back to our Stratford Chef School days.

In this week's newsletter, I'm looking squarely at the absence of women on the Bocuse d'Or Canada team and in the ranks of their sponsor, the CCFCC.

Please consider sharing the subscribe link for the newsletter. This is an issue that needs a Broadway-style spotlight shone on it.

I've been so busy, I didn't realize this was out on Thursday. It was a great pleasure to write and I had a terrific conversation with Magnus Nilsson—he's smart and funny. Lots of Canadian chefs in the mix too, some I've known for a long time.

Grateful that Tiffany Mayer gave me the opportunity to write about one of my favourite female chefs, Tania Vetere, and her business partner Amanda Ali. They just opened a meal delivery service in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Wish they delivered to Toronto.

I had a few things to say about how sexual harassment complaints are handled legally and the implications for women. One thing's certain, female chefs and servers need to play hardball.
