I guess it could mean that those in charge like our visual effects, but who knows? We still have five of ten episodes to deliver...

Developers: looking for a way to get JPEG images linked in to an SVG file to accept double-taps in iOS5 WebKit.
Our great developer is stumped at the moment. All SVG resource tips welcome!

The ColorHug is an open source display colorimeter (Linux only.)
Richard Hughes originally shared:

For the past 3 weeks I've been working long nights on an open source colorimeter called the ColorHug. This is hardware that measures the colors shown on the screen and creates a color profile. Existing hardware is proprietary and 100% closed, and my hardware has a GPL bootloader, GPL firmware image and GPL hardware schematics and PCBs. It's faster than the proprietary hardware, and more importantly a lot cheaper.

Making hardware does cost money, and I can't give the hardware away for free like I do my other software. I'm aiming to do an initial production run of 50 units, but I'm going to need some advanced orders just to make sure I don't get stuck with a lot of stock and no buyers. I'm offering a 20% discount on each unit, on the assumption the first users will be testing the firmware and reporting problems. If you want to support a cool open source project, I'm asking £48 for each unit, plus postage and packaging. There's a whole website http://www.hughski.com/ if you want to know more about the project, and there's even an newsletter if you don't need hardware, but want to know how we're getting on.

I would very much appreciate it if people could reshare this post, and help me get to my target of 50 pre-orders.

Thanks,

Richard

Our stunt man survived being thrown into a car while being bombarded with flames, burning debris and exploding glass. That's one bad way to spend your Saturday night!

Introduction
Ever curious tinkerer.
I do broadcast motion graphics and visual effects by day, and at night I bust out my Arduinos and build camera cranes, time-lapse dollys and other geeky projects. I've also been known to put aquarium pumps inside home-built computers, and building my own Macs out of components.

I also work with the talented colleagues that develop the free and open source broadcast graphics play-out server http://CasparCG.com/

It started with a 2.4K modem and a Mac SE with 20 MB of harddrive. From there I've been in tech publishing and DTP, and then migrated to PCs and web project management. After escaping that I co-founded a few consulting companies and think I've finally found my call as a broadcast designer doing 2D and 3D graphics for Swedish Broadcasting Corporation. I work mainly in Adobe After Effects and Maxon Cinema 4D, and have been known to be able to identify 25 out of 25 typefaces when woken up at midnight.

Lately I've also designed a bunch of UI's for iPad apps and demos.
