"An Escape to the Hawaii Islands, in Anaheim!"

A little beach shack in the bustling city that offers all the flavors of Hawaii in food, beverage, and ambiance!

One of my favorite places to escape to, after a long week at work, is Disneyland. It presents me with all the wonder of being a kid again,as well as, all the enjoyment of being an adult. The purpose of my post is not about Disneyland and all the rides, instead it is about a place many may not know about when visiting the resort. The wonderful thing is that you do not need a ticket to get in and it is possible to park for free (if done right).

My greatest escape is to Trader Sam's Bar and Lounge in the Heart of the Disneyland Hotel. For a person who is takes frequent trips to Hawaii, it is easy to miss the delectable delights of Hawaii's island dinning and culture. I have found the next best thing, that is merely miles away from where I live.

Trader Sam's offers a small appetizer menu of Hawaiian favorites such as Kahlua Pork (flat bread and sandwich), Teriyaki Chicken and Burger, and Poke. They have a more extensive drink menu sure to please anyone with classic Hawaiian drinks, such as the Hippopoto Mai Tai and Ka-blue-ie (their version of a Blue Hawaiian), as well as, the Hawaiian Kona Lagers and Ales, and non-alcoholic drinks, such as the Polynesian Punch and Skipper Sipper for the underage guests.

The food is phenomenal, but the ambiance is what really sells the place. When dinning indoors, the bar is filled with tropical greenery, bamboo and Tiki decorum everywhere, not to mention the darkened, ambient tropical colored lighting. Another benefit to dinning indoor is the Uh-Oa show, when someone orders the Uh-Oa (Disneyland's version of a fish bowl) the sounds of a  tropical rainstorm occurs and welcomes the explosion of the Uh-Oa volcano.

Dinning outdoors is highly recommended as well. The patio on a nice cool spring evening is ideal. The relaxed, low rise, patio seating is perfect for a relaxing break and the Tiki lanterns add perfect ambiance for dinning and listening to the live Hawaiian musicians. All seating is first come first serve and there is no host/hostess, so it is best to make friends with some of the guests and ask for their place when they are done.

To escape to the islands on any day of the week Trader Sam's is never a bad choice.
