I don't usually write reviews but thought I should following my particular experience with Just For You Bridal. I did end up buying a dress from them, but that was because despite the scruffy store front, I had a great first appointment and found a lovely dress. After trying on many dresses in other stores, I decided to go for this one and paid the non-refundable deposit (half of the price). I was told the dress would take 4-5 months to come in. I ordered in November last year and had up until September so wasn't worried, however the dress didn't actually come in until late August after several attempts on my behalf to chase them for an update. When I did chase them, no one offered to get in touch with the designer for an ETA. When the dress did come in, despite one woman having taken all of my measurements at the beginning (and writing them down on a receipt for me!) the dress was far too wide in the chest, and far too large in the bust as well as the straps being much too long and wide for me. I asked them to altar the straps and to bring the chest in, since the straps were lace and chafing my armpits. The first alterations (which cost me £100) left one strap still not fitted properly, and all they'd actually done was fold over the excess material on the seam instead of cutting the fabric and re-joining. Luckily this wasn't that noticeable. I also asked for my satin sash to be narrowed slightly, but all they did was tack it up with string in certain places so that it created a hanging curtain type of look?! I immediately asked them to untack the sash, and it was left creased and with stitch holes in that my mum had to sort out later on. After the second set of alterations, the straps were the right length but still chafing so I tried to explain to the woman "helping" us that they needed to be narrowed slightly and brought inwards. Instead of listening, the woman rushed off and called out their in-house seamstress who couldn't even understand English and was clearly not meant to talk directly with clients. She did her best to understand me and got the alterations sorted, although again, this involved folding over the material instead of cutting and resewing the seam. When I eventually came in to pick the dress up (aprox 2 weeks before the wedding!) I was handled, for once, by a wonderful woman who was very attentive and helpful. She is perhaps in her 60s and always looks well dressed and fabulous, unlike the other ladies who work there who don't seem to care much about their appearance or cleanliness of their clothes. Everyone I went into the store with agrees with me on this, and we remain baffled as to why someone in customer service would not even clean their clothes or pick out un-laddered tights? I went away with a beautiful dress that had terrible, sloppy alterations (my mum had to emergency sew one of my altered straps together the day before the wedding because it was coming loose!), a sash that needed ironing around the waist, threads from alterations coming undone and, in addition, could have fitted better around the bust (this was fixed by wearing a strapless padded bra and wasn't noticeable when wearing, thank god). All in all I had poor customer service and was ripped off with alterations. I'd suggest either shopping elsewhere or trying to go straight to the designer if you really like a particular dress. Or failing that, get alterations done somewhere else! Not giving them 1 star because they supplied me with my perfect wedding dress. I just wish they'd handled me, and the dress, a little better.
