well done Heli. A clever and meticulous, Finnish designer
It can take months, sometimes even years to develop a perfect piece. Each project work being challenging and constant interaction between myself and the customer it brings great pleasure to me as a designer.  To get my newest head wear design tested in as many occasions as possible, one crispy day of February I asked my model - and a top chef - friend Rosa to pack a day bag and we headed off to Suomenlinna Fortress Island in Helsinki...

aha! I wondered how it was done. I wondered was the wool wrapped around a wire core, but now I see the cotton strips, it makes total sense. Beautiful stone. It looks like a jasper?
Another piece of wearable art in the making I started with choosing the colours and the main feature The yarns I selected were caramel slubbed cotton, cream silk yarn and stone silk and wool. I wrapped white cotton jersey s...

The most excitement you can have without doing anything at all! I miss those crazy Valencianos, especially during Fallas festival in March. If you've never stood beneath the thunderous roar of a Valencian 'Mascletà' (daytime firework display) and felt the ground shake so much your heart nearly stops, then you you probably wont fully get this video. It's all about the rhythm and musicality, the pungent stench of gun powder and a deafening finale that will make your heart beat so fast you will think it has stopped. If you haven't got the patience for the foreplay, I mean build up, skip to minute 4:10 or thereabouts.

The Irish Claddagh Symbol
This week I listed an OOAK Connemara marble pendant featuring a vintage, sterling silver Claddagh charm. The Claddagh heart is a well-known and internationally popular Irish design.  The Claddagh ring was the original format, and has been about for 300 year...

Introduction
Irish jewellery artist, hill walker, beach comber & blogger from Dublin. (Ok I do have a day job too.) I wire-wrap & bead jewellery, accessories, bookmarks & ornaments. I love to use rare, local materials such as Connemara green, Kilkenny black & Cork red marbles. I also use beach glass, sea pottery & slate hand-picked from the shore & upcycled buttons etc.

Through this blog, I showcase my work, give tips related to care of jewellery, crafting & anything remotely related & share a glimpse of the beautiful Irish scenery that inspires me to create.
