I have been coming to Make My Cake since I saw the episode when Aaliyah battled Bobby Flay for German Chocolate Cake supremacy. From the very first time I came in and tasted this German Chocolate Cake I have never been disappointed and many years later I'm still coming back from the Philadelphia area. By far the best experience of German Chocolate Cake I have ever had. Today I've been sitting here after receiving my order for at least 30 minutes and I've witnessed the crowd come in, get serviced and leave. No one is waiting, there are no rude attitudes by the staff. So I can't imagine what experience other customers have received that would prompt a negative review. As the sign says in the bakery... Life's Short... Eat Cookies. Or in my case, eat German Chocolate Cake.

The owner was extremely nice and helpful. The cookies (Macadamia) and cakes (Buttercream) are amazing! The service was outstanding. Aaliyah, the owner, even went out of her way to have a cake delivered to my girlfriend's birthday brunch, which I was unable to attend, on a Sunday!

I purchased a Red Velvet Cake yesterday at the 116th Street location. It was very good. When ordering you may experience a delay in picking up your order. Call before you get there. They were apologetic in the 2hr. delay. I hope the next birthday will be a better experience.

Does this place really need more reviews? These are some of the best cupcakes you will EVER have.. it's completely worth it to go out of your way to try these. I think the reason these are so amazing is because every single one of them is precisely just sweet enough, or rich enough, or tart enough... they have mastered the balance! We ordered mini cupcakes to taste a bunch of flavors: Red Velvet: Perfectly sweet but not overwhelming, the cake was moist and the cream cheese frosting was authentic. Key Lime: So soft, slightly tart, and refreshing. I don't even care for pie, much less key lime, but this was great! Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl: The fudge frosting was perfect, especially combined with a dollop of peanut butter when you bite into it. Carrot: The biggest surprise! I can count on one hand how many times I've had carrot cake but this is the one to change my ways. Sooo good. Brooklyn Blackout: This is a common flavor amongst bakeries but nobody does it like Two Little Red Hens. They somehow managed to get all of that chocolatey cake/frosting/pudding/fudge into a single serving without being overly rich or sweet. DIVINE. I generally don't eat cheesecake but with all the hype I had to try it. It was a huge slice and it was light, fluffy, and perfect. The graham cracker crust really stood out, so delicious, I would eat that on its own. I went on a weekday about 8PM, it was a short line and we got a table. However, the place is small with very limited seating so be prepared to take it to go. I'll be back for more!

Went in today to order a cake for my organizations anniversary party. At first, No one asked if they could help me and my friend, until she spoke up. Then, the one gentlemen did assist us by telling us the pricing and answering all of our inquiries. We then paid $4 for a buttercream cupcake.... That cupcake was straight diabetic. The "buttercream" was sooooo beyond sweet. & then the cake was crumbly and dry in texture. It tasted like stale pound cake with pillsbury icing. I was taken aback because I had heard nothing but amazing things about this bakery, but from my own experience -- $130+ for half a sheet cake, dry ass diabetic cupcake, lackluster service minus the one gentlemen-- I guess you can't believe everything you hear!

I wish I can give no starts. They simply don't value customer service. I place an original cake order, really simple to be specific. I call the store and ask if I was able to change the design of my cake. To be quiet honest I didn't want to get their cake but I have already paid for half of the cake, so I had to deal with it because they don't make refunds- understandable. I'm not an entrepreneur but I know business and they have lost the sense of this bakery is there because of the customers- we're making revenue because of the customers. I told the manager Emarol (not a very welcome person) that she needs to be the examples to her employees and care more about customer service. I order a red velvet round 12" cake cover in soft pink butter frosting, they charge me $125 for it add $10 for the soft pink in it. I was happy with my original order but I wanted to add another tier to the cake. I actually wanted to have a 10" and a 8" red velvet soft pink butter frosted but for that she was charging me $350. She said in a very rude and disrespectful tone is actually $10 the slice when is tier but she will give me a good price of $9 a slice. My point to her was that I didn't care how expensive it would be of customer service was excellent. That didn't go throw her head. I felt as a customer I wasn't value. My money is not good. To leave behind that when I first spoke with her she told me to have a sit and send the picture of the cake I wanted to an email and that they will give me a price. Emarol left to the back of the store and started talking crap about me and how I wanted to change the cake. Not only did she offend and disrespected me but her crew follow. That person shouldn't be a leader at your bakery- little by little she will bring you down. I'm really sad that I had to experience such behavior and the fact that I have no choice but to deal with it. I just hope that when I go and pick the cake up is a better experience and there is nothing wrong. I hope they end up being professional with my cake and I will held them responsible for anything going wrong with it. I have notice that the manager only responds to those who write good reviews or have slight problem with the sponge of the cake. I hope to get a respond because I want to know that at least the owner is responsible, professional and value all customer. I would not recommend anyone to come to this bakery at all.

Kissy , first let me apologize for your experience, there was no excuse for her tone or demeanor. My goal is to work with clients to meet their needs, nothing is cookie cutter when it comes to placing an order. My team is also instructed to bring client concerns to me and I am sadden to say this wasn't. No one likes to read a review where a client's needs weren't met, but I have to say thank you for posting. We can't improve if we don't know where problems exist and you listed several things I need to address immediately. Your concern may not have been isolated so it has prompted me to review our leadership and training. Placing an order has to meet your satisfaction, if you weren't satisfied prior to your order being completed there is room to cancel. We built our company from the home on word of mouth, that remains our foundation for growth. I'm sorry you were given the impression we don't care.
