What an awesome place. Just fantastic. This was one of the few places that really made me feel like I knew Austin was the right town for me. I immediately feel in love with this little dive bar. The bartenders there are great and if you ever have the chance to sing karaoke there I recommend it. It's choice. This is one of those places that just makes Austin...well, Austin.

Unquestionably Austin's best karaoke dive bar. The show starts at 10pm Sun-Thurs and 9pm Fri & Sat. Be there early and ready to put your song in, it's not uncommon on the weekend to have a 2-3 hour (or more) rotation. Dance on the swivel chairs, enjoy the affordable drinks compared to those on 6th.

How do even begin to write about your favorite and most ridiculous place in Austin, Texas. I lived down the street (well.... really it was *up* that damn hill known as Congress ave) and honestly lost count of my Foursquare check-ins around 60. I hosted my own birthday parties and other people's bday parties in this dungeon underneath some creepy office building. You'll want to park by the entrance, which is under ground, north of the sign on the street. It's a decently open place. I remember before they tore down the walls between the pool tables and main room. They've been doing renovations and it's been appreciated. There are no windows, and you will start to freak out. Drinks are super strong and the bartenders are nicer than your grandparents. Enjoy. just don't record someone's performance and hold it ransom. I would never do that .... ;)

Ego's has one of the friendliest clienteles of any bar I've been to, it's actually kind of weird. My group of trivia friends and I recently decided to check out their Tuesday night trivia after Geeks Who Drink made the absurd decision not to give out coupons for free beer anymore at our regular location. Not only was I way more impressed with the quality of questions here, even though they were #%@&ing hard, one of the other teams saw that we were new and bought us a round of shots as a welcoming gift. What?! What the heck kind of bar has patrons who do that for complete strangers? So we stayed for karaoke, and the audience was noticeably more cheerful and supportive than at, say, Common Interest or Canary Hut. That's probably not a big deal if, like me, you're going to go up and sing no matter how how drunk and godawful you are, but for the more self-conscious (AKA sober) karaoke-ers out there, that might make a difference. Luckily their drink prices are reasonable enough to get you into singing mode pretty cheaply. The Führerbunker aesthetic might be off-putting to some, but you know what they say: never judge a bar by its concrete entombment underneath a parking garage.

Ego's is THE place to go for karaoke in Austin. It's the epitome of a dive bar, but the crowd is what makes it great. Very supportive for new singers, and you never know what you'll see performed. Having said that, the place is pretty run down, and don't expect to sing more than once in a night. But go for the other singers and the cheap drinks.

If we could give half stars I'd give Ego's 3.5 stars. Ego's does karaoke 7 days a week and keeps pretty busy likely due to cheap bar prices. Its a tucked-away hole in the wall dive bar with a mix of south austin locals, groups and karaoke addicts. Many of the people seem to know one another or there as a group so it's not a very great venue for meeting new people. food: i dont think they sell food and if they did I'd be scared to try it. bar: busy & packed. Bar staff are efficient and friendly; It's always been busy when Ive been there and I didnt have a hard time getting a drink or refills drink prices: 5 stars cheap and poured heavy :-) sound system: 4 stars (above average) karaoke wait: 2 stars it's a popular joint so take a number as you will be waiting a long while. The performers here are above average which helps with the wait a little KDJ's efficient and very busy

Egos is a little out of the way and difficult to find, but it's totally worth it. They have a great karaoke scene. The bartenders know what they're doing and are super friendly.

Ego's hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
