Well amazing people, give yourselves a firm handshake and a jolly big congratulatory pat on the back if you please! The new teacher's accommodation at Kisimula Christian Community Primary School is not only complete, but already occupied and just in time for the start of the new school year! Amazing!

And if you'd like to read a little more about the build and the reasons behind it and see some more pictures please take a look at our blog post here:

Thank you SO much for helping to make this happen! The new accommodation will have an immediate impact for both teachers, students and the school at large.

Need somewhere to keep that loose change that's weighing down your pockets or scattered about the house? Download our "Change Box" to print out (preferably on card), cut out and collect your loose change. Your small change can make a big change! The picture is for illustrative purposes, you can download the pdf file here: www.friendsreachingout.org/change-box.pdf

"They're all going to the zoo . . . " Tomorrow all of our supported primary and secondary school aged children will be spending the day out at the zoo! For many of the children this will be their first time traveling such a distance (about a three hour bus ride each way), the drive itself will be an experience. Spending the day at the zoo, eating out, having fun with friends, making memories, it will be a fantastic day. To be able to cater for life experiences such as this, as well as life's essentials, is very precious. We'd like to express our thanks to the generosity of several friends, one in particular who allowed us to piggy back his own fundraising event, to raise funds specifically for this day out.

Have a great day everyone!

As soon as we have photographs from the day we'll post some up.

On Monday (3rd Feb) our primary & secondary school students start the 1st term of the new school year. Five children will be moving up from primary school to begin secondary and two UCE (O-Level) finishers will begin their A-Level courses. Very exciting!

2013 was a busy year for us. Thanks to your support we were able to achieve a great deal. Thanks also go to our dedicated Ugandan Project staff; and our UK team, all of whom are volunteers working in their free time around full time day jobs.

2013 notable developments included:

- Improved diet programmes for children & staff
- Our first solar power installation
- A new interim classroom block
- New classroom benches & teachers desks
- New classroom blackboards
- Kisimula school plans finalised and drawn up
- Agriculture training for local farmers & project staff
- New farming regime established & soils tested
- Opening up new areas of farmland
- Smokeless oven installations & training
- Working closely with  Uganda Development Services
- A new kitchen building at Kisimula Primary school
- New toilet blocks at Kisimula Primary school
- Kisimula children's homes repaired & refurbished
- Access road leveled and re-surfaced

Alongside these developments the day to day work of caring for the welfare and education of all our sponsored children continues to change lives one day at a time.
