A delicious new metaphor for sex? This is BRILLIANT.
For some reason, says educator Al Vernacchio, the metaphors for talking about sex in the US all come from baseball — scoring, getting to first base, etc. The problem is, this frames sex as a competition, with a winner and a loser. Instead, he suggests a new metaphor, one that's more about shared pleasure, discussion and agreement, fulfillment and enjoyment. Let's talk about … pizza.

An older post, but a very relevant and timely tip if you're cooking this Thursday: make a menu first, THEN a shopping list.

I write for plenty of other people, and I'm truly happy with the way this article turned out for Bello Mag. It's all about indulging during the holidays, but keeping it healthy. Enjoy!

L.A.’s taco trucks are known for their greasy, fatty deliciousness—but a popular new initiative has them serving up greens and fruits next to the burritos and nacho plates.

Are you ready for the November meal that leaves you stuffed and comatose?

I am very ready. Shopped and prepped ready. But there’s a huge presumption that all parties can’t wait for the big bird, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce out of a can and yams with a marshmallow topping. But before we talk about why most of these aren’t particularly compelling dishes, I have one bomb to drop:

I hate turkey.

Who wants to spend hours in the kitchen this week? I DON'T. This week, I'm sharing recipes that put you in and out of the kitchen quickly, fits perfectly for the holidays, are big on taste, healthy, and will label you king/queen of Thanksgiving.

Mincing several cloves at once is one thing, but if you only need one or two cloves, you can leave your knife in the drawer. Mincing garlic with a fork makes the job quick and easy. Take a look!

I hadn't eaten here since high school. When biting into the patty melt with pastrami, I knew I was going to pay for it later. I didn't care. This is awesome, old-school, greasy, burger stand food.

While waiting for food at taco zone, I replenish my fridge/pantry by making a quick stop here. They have just about all you need for a small matket, and it seems to fulfill the needs of hipsters and longtime Echo Park Latino families. Wine and beer selection is choice.

It's a bit of a mess. And finding someone to help during busy hours is a challenge. BUT, when you do, they are lovely people. So I'll always go back, with my dog in tow, and get what I need, or ideas to improve my project.
