ok i have never written a review before but felt i had to this time. I chose Powerhouse for my birthday because i like to try places that i have never been. Well this was most certainly a mistake. I ordered the crablegs with a side of mushrooms and a appetizer of calamari. My fiance ordered the blackened tilapia with crab meat and shrimp. The crablegs were ok, not great. I can cook them better for me. The mushrooms were too salty and the calamari came with marinara sauce which was horrible. i asked for cocktail sauce whic made it a lot better. My fiances dish was disgusting. the fish had a bad taste and was extremely dry. she couldnt even finish it. Now as far as the service well it was ok i guess but most certainly not memorable at all. when we mentioned how bad the fish was we were just blown off and though she said she was sorry, really did nothing nor acted as if she really cared about our unhappiness with the meal. I will never return to powerhouse for any occasion and i would not recommend it to anyone. I give it a one. I was more satisfied with whataburger or mcdonalds. had friendlier people and better service.

Atmosphere of a sports bar with prices of a fine restraunt. Seafood is fresh and the people are friendly.

Beautiful evening so sat outside - food was just nothing special. Quite disappointed! Tried several various items and nothing was really great we are sad to say! For the same price I would choose another restaurant - powerhouse salad really wasn't fresh. Gulf shrimp were fine - strip steak seemed frozen and not much color nor taste. Do not recommend you eat here and we all left disappointed after spending a hundred or so bucks!

Powerhouse has been hit and miss for us. Sometimes we get great food, sometimes the fried foods we order are soggy. I would rather pay a few dollars more and go to Cafe' Rue Orleans.

I have never taken the time to write a negative review in my entire life. Today warrants one though. It was a Sunday afternoon, my family (5 adults and 3 small kids) decided to eat at Powerhouse for the first time in a couple years. We got there, and i was kinda relieved because the place was empty! We were literally 1 of 2 tables with anyone seated in the whole restaurant. I was thankful because surely we'd get quick/great service and food! Boy was I wrong. Once we ordered our food...we were never checked on for refills or anything. It took forever to get our food! We were there about an hour and had to get up to find someone to get us a refill. Oh and we asked about the muffins we were supposed to have,(that they told us JUST went in the oven an hour ago) and apparently they were still in the oven. We asked how long they normally take to bake, and we were told "usually 10-15 minutes, but I don't know what happened". Her demeanor was obvious. It was Sunday, they were slow, she didn't wanna be there, she was going to do the bare minimum as far as service. After we got our food, we noticed the portions were TINY. So we assumed we got lunch prices, since after all, we got there at 1, lunch/brunch was served till 2. To our amazement (sense the sarcasm at this point) we were charged full DINNER prices. And they were outrageous. Then, to put the icing on the cake, we asked for the muffins to go (honestly just to see if they had ever been put in the oven as we were told) and we had to wait another TEN minutes to get any. Here's the thing, if the food had been disgusting and overpriced but we had exceptional service, I would never write this. But the lack of quality overall, in food, service and hospitality drove me to write this. I wouldn't want another family to deal with this when they could easily get better food, prices and service elsewhere.

Let me start by saying, I NEVER write negative public reviews. Usually, I find confidential constructive criticism to be sufficient, but I think our treatment here was bad enough that others should be warned. If you are considering having your wedding reception at Powerhouse, think again. My husband and I had an unusually long engagement period, as we live 6 hours away from Fayetteville and I wanted to finish my professional studies program before getting married. We booked Powerhouse THREE YEARS in advance of our wedding. We realized this was a long way out, but were grateful (at the time) that they were willing to work with us. We would check back with them about once a year to make sure we were still set for our date. Our first warning sign should have been that nearly every time we contacted them, they had a new event coordinator. By the time 2013 rolled around, we were ready to do some more serious planning (menu, decorations, etc). I e-mailed the most recent contact I had to set up a taste-testing and planning session for a Saturday in March. The response I got welcomed us to stop by at any time on the specified day, and that any manager should be able to handle our session. When we arrived as scheduled we were surprised to find there was a massive fraternity event happening that absorbed the restaurant’s entire staff. No one knew who we were or why we were there; it had not been communicated beyond the planner who was apparently off that day. We were given a table to talk with a freshly hired (as in, that very same week) planner. While she was very sweet, she did not know the answers to any of our questions and had to go ask the owner about everything. When it came to trying out menu options, the owner very gruffly came to our table and said he was too busy to deal with us. We did eventually try some appetizers, which we fully intended to pay for, but were not charged (hold on, this comes back to bite us). The food was nothing special, but I was so excited about the patio space that I could tolerate the greasy options. They were also unable to come up with anything vegetarian-friendly (which was important, since I have several close friends with this dietary lifestyle). I had originally been told they could make special requests- apparently not. Despite the rude demeanor of the owner, a price in food that had increased substantially since we booked them, and a less-than savory menu, we were pleasant to the staff and decided to make the best of the situation. Just to be clear, we understand that food costs can fluctuate, but they actually increased the price by an average of 89% (some items had an increase of over 250%), while also reducing the quantity for each item. A couple weeks before the wedding, the menu had still not officially been finalized. My husband called to see what food options would give us the most bang for our buck to provide hors d'oeuvres for 100 guests. The owner called him back SCREAMING and cursing at him, accusing us of being pushy and demanding! For trying to finalize wedding plans? He said we were not welcomed for our tasting and that our demand for free food was unacceptable! (Again, we thought we had arranged for this planning session, and we never asked for free food). He called us liars, saying we never had a scheduled session. I still have the e-mail that arranged the day. In the end, he said that if we DID have our reception there, he would go out of his way to make sure we paid the very highest price he could arrange. He told us to take our deposit and go elsewhere because he claimed there was no way they were going to make us happy. FIVE WEEKS before our wedding. We did take our business elsewhere and were much happier with the location, food, and friendly staff. I won’t be surprised if the owner attempts to deny all this as he has been known to go onto facebook and rant about customer issues. But- just go ahead and try to plan an event with them if you don’t believe me. You’ll regret it!

Great local restaurant. Sit at the bar, enjoy the Hall of Foam contest, which rewards you as you work your way through 80 beers from around the world. At the bar order "Bar Bennies". Super cheap, good Cajun fish bites. If dining, the Powerhouse Salad and Whiskey Bay Catfish entrees are excellent.
