A retained #surgical instrument is an item that has been accidentally left inside a patient’s body from an #operation. During a typical surgical operation, it is estimated that 250 to 300 tools are used. In more complicated operations, upwards of 600 tools are used. The more instruments used during an operation, the greater the likelihood that a surgical instrument can be inadvertently forgotten and retained.
The number of retained surgical instrument cases is believed to be underreported as many nurses are discouraged from reporting due to #malpractice and #liability issues.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksdfgz-8poo

An #anoxic brain injury which is also called #cerebral #hypoxia or hypoxic-anoxic injury (#HAI) is a serious, life-threatening injury; it can cause cognitive problems and disabilities. Some HAI injuries are due to a partial lack of oxygen; the term hypoxic means partial lack. Other HAI injuries are due to a complete lack of oxygen; the term anoxic means total lack. The greater the loss of oxygen, the more wide-spread and serious the injury will be.

Failure to Diagnose Cancer | Medical Malpractice
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pGy2QaMS0o

Early detection of cancer is the most important factor in battling the disease. If a tumor is discovered in its earliest stages, cancer is often treatable. However, when a tumor is allowed to progress and metastasize, it can reach the lymphatic system and enter the blood stream. This stage of cancer becomes life-threatening because the cancerous cells are able to spread and multiply anywhere in the body. #Cancer is extremely difficult to treat in later stages.

Orlando, Florida Based Attorney, Rich Newsome explains how a heart attack can be #misdiagnosed and lead to the death of a loved one.

If you think you are having a heart attack, notify someone around you immediately. If you lose consciousness before help arrives, this person can explain your #symptoms to #medical personnel, allowing proper treatment to occur faster. Never attempt to drive yourself to the #hospital. A loss of consciousness while behind the wheel can spell disaster for your own health and safety and that of others on the road.

A cesarean section is also known as a C-section. It is the alternative for mothers having difficulty with vaginal birth.
