Watched Frontline last night on RTE1 the subject matter was Ireland's future oil & gas deposits. Here we are talking about exploiting fuels that will pollute our environment not only in exploration of the fuels but also in the use of these fuels. They spoke about money into the exchequer - do the Government really think that these gas and oil companies will benefit the Irish People? And yet, staring the Government in the face are real sustainable alternatives which will not only give rise to sustainable job-creation but also will not harm our environment. However, it seems that the Government refuses to invest in this technology, instead they tender out these licences to exploit Ireland Gas & Oil reserves and help further pollute our environment.

We are giving a solar power workshop on Saturday the 11th at the Irish Seed Savers Association in Scarriff, Co. Clare.

This is a hands-on, practical day. We will be installing a PV (photovoltaic) system to run a few small lights at the cob house. This will be a 12volt, off-grid system running LED lighting. First we will explain what the various components of the system are and how the system will work. Then it's outside where we will be installing the PV panel, running cables, installing the lights, placing batteries in their enclosure and wiring them up, connecting the system up and switching on the lights.

For booking go to www.store.irishseedsavers.ie/Renewable_Energy_p/1313.htm

We all like to decorate our Christmas trees and the exterior of the house with hundreds of those little twinkling lights and you don't have to stop doing that to go green. However, you do need to replace those traditional Christmas lights from years past with the newest kid on the block - LED (light emitting diode) Christmas lights.

They use up to 90% less energy than traditional incandescent Christmas lights. Beyond the decrease in energy usage, these LED lights produce very little heat which significantly reduces the risk of fire and they last about 10 times longer than traditional lights (about 200,000 hours).

This is video was made 16years ago! Makes you wonder why the politicians are taking so long in bringing this Crop into the mainstream. The production of the 10,000's of products from Building Products to Plastic Halted! Because people are so brainwashed into believing that Hemp is the same as Marijuana. Such an easy crop to grow. Good for us and Good for our environment - duh!

You heard it here first. As of 2012 we will be supplying Irish Organic vegetable seeds from the lovely 'Brown Envelope Seeds'.

All the seeds are grown from their farm in West Cork. They have been selecting over the years varieties and individual plants that work here. They are open-pollinated, or open source seeds, which means that you can save your own seed from them.

The farm is certified by The Organic Trust so that the seeds may be used by certified organic growers. There are no chemical treatments carried out on the seeds or the plants they are harvested from
