TIP OF THE DAY!!

Do you ever see a black ring around the bottom of the toilet? Well that is caused by sewage, mold and black bacteria. Due to a leaking wax ring. In order to fix this issue you must pull the toilet off of the floor and replace the wax ring gasket. After that you have to reset the toilet back in its place.

Service announcement for people who live in the following areas:

BRENTWOOD
DISCOVERY BAY
PITTSBURG
ANTIOCH
OAKLEY
BETHEL ISLAND
.
The above cities have hard water issues. Hard water can be very damaging to the house as well as to people's health.
It is high in calcium and magnesium which can be good. However, we all know things should be taken in moderation and if you’re over exposed it can cause you health problems like tiredness, vomiting or diarrhoea.
This is only a small risk in comparison to the damages that could be done to your house. Calcium and magnesium over time build up within the pipe system causing major corrosion and damages that could lead to thousands of dollars worth of plumbing problems.

TIP OF THE DAY !! :)

What to do if your ring falls down the drain??

1. For starters you will need a bucket to catch the water, and a channellock (picture below) you may not always need this tool some P-traps you can unscrew by hand.
2. Use the Channellock to loosen, but not unscrew the P-Trap (pictured below) completely. P-traps will either be plastic or metal.
3. Slide the bucket underneath the sink and P-trap, completely unscrew it, and remove it dumping the water and contents into the bucket.
4. Remove any items that may haven fallen in the sink and disinfect them.
5. Last but not least rescrew the P-trap in its original place and tighten everything correctly. Then run the water to test that there are no leaks.

TIP OF THE DAY !!
When you are done plunging or cleaning your toilet it is wise to let it dry before storing it back in its place. This will prevent toilet water germs from dripping on the floor. As well as prevent an odor or mold to grow from storing a wet cleaning brush or plunger. The best way to avoid these things is to use your toilet seat as a prop to hold what needs to dry. 10 things that should always be kept out of the drains.

1. Avoid flushing a lot of toilet paper down the toilet at once. It may cause build up.
2. Hair in any drain will act as a net catching all sorts of debris that will cause clogs.
3. Any oils or fats will also eventually clog the pipes.
4. Avoid flushing those "flushable" wipes down the drain. They may say they are flushable, but in all honesty they have also been known for clogging up toilets.
5. The minerals in medicine can also cause a build up so avoid dumping those down any drains. Instead put them in a child safe container where you can dispose of them properly.
6. Always avoid flushing any feminine products down the drain. Those will definitely cause a back up.
7. Diapers are the same. Never try to flush those.
8. Keep an eye on children because any little toy down the drain will cause a major back up as well.
9. Never pour paint down the drain.
10. Any little plastic or rubber down the drains will also cause major block ups.

TIP OF THE DAY!!!
Often times food can build up in the garbage disposal causing an unpleasant smell. It is always a good idea to clean out your garbage disposal in order to get rid of that funny odor.

1. Take a few ice cubes with orange or lemon rinds and grind them in the disposer for about 30 seconds.
2. After that pour a little bit of dish soap in the disposer.
(both of these steps require a little bit of running water)
3. Last but not least allow the cold water to continue running for about 30 seconds clearing out anything left behind.

TIP OF THE DAY!! :)
After some time showerheads may develop an uneven spray due to the holes being clogged by minerals. This is ESPECIALLY true in Contra Costa County becuase of the hard water.

1. First you're going to want to unscrew the shower head. If you need to use wrench to loosen the shower head, but don't want to scratch the finish you could wrap the tool with masking tape.

2. Once you remove the shower head you're going to want to cautiously clean out the holes with a thin wire

3. Then you're going to rinse the shower head and reassemble it.

4. Last but not least you are going to take a small bag (but still big enough to wrap the shower head) and you are going to pour a cup of vinegar and place it around the shower head. Let it sit over night and when you wake up remove the bag and wipe off any leftover residue.
