*There has been a lot of buzz around Google+ (aka Google Plus). *

Need help ? Call David on 07538 199694

Google is the search engine giant – and when Google speaks, everyone listens. And unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that social media has been the popular marketing buzzword these days. Businesses of all sizes (everyone from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies) have been pouring money into social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other niche social media sites. Google+ is Google’s entry into the social media marketing world. In fact, many have dubbed Google Plus as Google’s “Facebook Killer.” Google+ isn’t just another social media network — it’s part of a powerful social media platform that integrates with capabilities like Google Docs, chat, hangouts, email and more. For that reason alone, Google+ is a high-value opportunity worth businesses investing time and resources to cultivate.

A common misconception is that Google+ is a ghost town and that businesses don’t need to be engaged on Google Plus. Google+ is actually home to vibrant, active communities that foster deep engagement. For businesses, the trick is learning how to find and take advantage of Google Plus communities and build long-lasting relationships with your core audience, clients and customers. Here Are The Top 5 Reasons Your Business Should Be On Google+ 1. Google+ Integrates With Other Google Services One of the coolest things about G+ is it’s already integrated with all of cool Google’s services you know and love like Gmail, Google Drive, YouTube and more. Google is trying to make a one-stop shop for consumers and businesses. Google Plus is another weapon in that arsenal.

2. Better Visibility for Your Business on Search Engine Results Getting your business page set up on the social media platform backed by the biggest search engine is HUGE for ranking your G+ business page higher on search engine results and increasing your business’ exposure online. Getting your Google Plus business page ranked higher on the search engines means more people clicking through to your website, learning about your business, stopping by your place of business and ultimately more phone calls and sales.

3. Google Hangouts and Communities Are Super Cool – And Fun! Google Hangouts are one of the most fun features that G+ has to offer. Hangouts can be used in a ton of different ways (like meetings with clients and customers, collaborating with co-workers, providing product informational sessions, sales presentations, etc.) Google Hangouts can be a huge asset to your business and how you reach out and communicate with your clients. Google+ Hangouts and Hangouts on Air (HOA) offer businesses an opportunity to enhance engagement with customers through live, real-time, multimedia interaction. These functionalities make it easier than ever to open direct lines of communication with customers, solicit feedback and build brand loyalty. Google+ HOA are live-streamed videos that allow for interactive participation— it’s a fantastic tool to help you nurture and engage your customers. HOAs have been effectively leveraged for businesses, education, entertainment and even politics. A cool thing is that HOAs are automatically recorded and can be posted to YouTube. You can even link back to your website or blog for a nice search engine optimization (SEO) boost. There are more than 50,000 communities on Google+, spanning every type of topic and interest. Google+ Communities are gold mines for connecting and engaging with users, especially those interested in your products, services and business. Once you’ve identified and joined relevant communities, make it a priority to participate often with engaging content.

4. Connecting is Easy with Circles Managing and connecting with different groups of people is so easy on Google+. Within Google Plus you can create “Circles.” Circles make it easy for you to separate, connect with and manage content you’d like to give to friends, family, work associates, customers — all under one profile.

5. Easier Profile Setup Google+ makes is easy for you to set up and optimize your profile, especially if you use other Google services like Gmail or YouTube. The ease of logging in to all of Google’s services with one login is handy. So if you want to take the plunge with Google’s social media platform, jump right in. You can get started by setting up your personal Google Plus profile  and then set up your Google+ business page. Believe me, if you don’t jump in on Google+ now, your competition will. Better to be on the upswing.   Need help ?

What is Chromecast?

Chromecast is a thumb-sized media streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port on your TV. Set it up with a simple mobile app, then send your favourite online shows, movies, music and more to your TV using your smartphone, tablet or laptop.

David says Chromecast is just what we needed!

First Tweet! What was yours?

Social network Twitter is using its upcoming 8th birthday to help users discover their first tweets.

Twitter launched a website called first-tweets.com, allowing users to search their own account or other accounts to find their first tweet. Users are also encourage to use the hashtag #FirstTweet .

"Millions of prolific tweeters have made Twitter an exciting, fun and powerful place to connect with others," says Gabriel Stricker, Twitter's vice president of marketing and communications. "But each of you had to start somewhere."

Estate Agents get it all wrong!

I've seen about two websites run by Realtors in California that are geared up for appearing in search just as the searcher is searching - if that makes sense!

I've seen none in the Plymouth area - in fact I am seriously considering setting up a homes for sale or rent website here in Plymouth and #exeter  .....I just know it will do well....

At the moment I see no-one in #DEvon  and #Cornwall  using Google to their best advantage..... NO it's not all about cheating - in fact you don't need to cheat Google if you are making your website and blog of interest and of good use and worth for the online home-seeker.

No it's not all about content either - hone in on communities....keep everything factual...

It's not all about being number 1 - I feel this is a waste and advise a well structured Wordpress website to manage your listings.

A little bit of legwork and time managing your Wordpress website will be most rewarding!

The most successful local Real Estate Agents I have seen actually do well without chasing the term "Estate Agent" - my advice? Go after the neighbourhoods and homes...

Yes it can be tiresome but it is well worth it and let's face it who looks at local newspapers to look for a new home???

Keyword research?? There are way too many SEO services that seemingly harp on about keyword research...  To be honest I've always found this simple.

By using Google Auto Suggest whilst searching for your main keyword will show you the most searched for terms.... Easy.

Another is Google Alerts - Subscribe to your topic by doing this "my keywords" and then set up a daily alert

The final keyword tool I use is GMail - yes that's right. Google Mail...

Send yourself an email containing your keywords in the post and when you open the mail in GMail your keywords will be mixed in with the ads on the right....

Thank you!
Someone here said - every village should have a Post Office like this. I couldn't agree more. My Mum and Dad live up the road and are in their 90s. The owner of this shop delivers small grocery stuffs to their door - even the local paper if they want it. Lovely people who just belong in this village

Royal William Yard is a must visit when visiting Plymouth. There are many classy restaurants situated around this historic area. Italian, French, British, Mexican and more plus a wonderful fresh bread bakery. Sunday food markets are a monthly regular and the market is very popular with Plymouth people. There is a boat available which can take you back and forth from Plymouth's Barbican
