Caryl has a degree in commerce and worked briefly in human resources. She has been a home-maker for 26 years, but also a writer, blogger and author. She is an animal lover and has owned dogs all her life. She has also been involved in training and showing her dogs. In 2011, Caryl trained her current dog – TOBY – also a Golden Retriever, for a part in a high-school stage production of the Broadway musical Annie. Caryl has also been an avid blogger for the past four years and hosts the following blogs: THE ADVENTURES OF MAXDOG (http://www.theadventuresofmaxdog.blogspot.com) LIVING LIFE TO THE MAX (http://www.africanwhitechild.blogspot.com). Caryl is well known in the dog-blogging community. "MAXDOG" is Caryl's first book,(Available on Amazon.com) which was encouraged and supported by her world-wide audience. MAXDOG is a human-interest story of universal appeal, and not one necessarily limited to dog-lovers.

It was about 3am when I opened my eyes and reached for my glasses. I gingerly crept out of bed for a nature call. My eagle-eyes scoured the walls to locate my eight-legged-spider 'friend'. "Oscar"- as I have now named him - was nowhere to be seen... Relief ...
