I started going here in the mid-60's when it was just a bar and a pool table and the locals called it "Maggie's", after Whitey's wife. I moved away and after a long absence, I took my son there for lunch - his first time after hearing about it all his life. Once we got past the gang of smokers and make-believe "bikers" huddled right next to the door, we waited. And wait some more. Eventually a supremely bored server took us to a table and we both (on my suggestion) ordered the "Maggie" burger. {Back in the day, it was big, fresh, juicy and delicious...hot off the grill and loaded with grilled mushrooms and onions.} When our food finally came to the table, the burger was cartoonishly big...never a good sign. The "beef" was room temperature with all the flavor of candle wax and completely buried in cold, canned mushrooms. The fries were cold. More than anything, I was embarrassed and I apologized to my son. This is a place that has been living on it's past glory for a long time. As far as I am concerned, they've squandered their reputation by choosing hype over quality. Their food is third-rate, as is their service. The Coliseum is long gone and so is any reason to eat at Whitey's. I'm sure Maggie and Whitey would be ashamed of the way their old place is being run and embarrassed by the crap coming out of that kitchen.

I don't understand how people say its overpriced? I just came back from Whitey's with a few buddies I got fries and onion rings for the table my own burger and 3 beers only paid 30 bucks!! Food is fantastic servers and bartenders are so down to earth not always up your ass like at a applebees, chilis,ext... Bottom line is great food great atmosphere great people! Whitey's is a winner... Only negative it was a long wait to get a table because everyone else realizes how awesome this place is! MUST GO!!

We were told this should be the first place we go after moving to south brecksville, and we were pleased with the fare. The no credit card business is pretty annoying, but there are enough positive aspects to get over it. Lots of burgers, pretty good ribs, and really good drink specials.

Beer prices are good, and the potato skins are worth the trip there alone.

Best burger in NE Ohio. Get the maggie burger. Tons of mushrooms and onions and quite frankly is my favorite burger ever. Great fries and onion rings. A bit pricey, but well worth it. Nice game room for the kids to be distracted while you sit at the bar and relax and wait for table. No credit cards. Bring cash, or hit the cash machine inside. It's out of the way a bit, but well worth the trip.

I have been coming here since I was a kid in the reverse facing seat of my parents station wagon. Not much has changed since then. They still won't take credit /debit cards, but you can write a check! I prefer the chicken chili. Its a bit spicier. The regular chili reminds me of my grandmother's. Nothing fancy or spicy, just a hearty combination of ground beef and kidney beans.
