Had this exact same conversation about perspective with someone last week.

"I think we are special because we are the same... We are part of this world where we have DNA in common with yeast, with oak trees, with the insects that scurry under brush. This is the commonality of life on earth. And then you learn about molecules and atoms. We have the same atoms that are in stars. So now you look up and we are common with the universe as well... So for me the cosmic perspective, which I KNOW if people had, you would never be leading armies into battle. Do you know how ridiculous it looks to the person with the cosmic perspective that one general says to the other, 'I'm going to conquer that land across this line-" You're gonna do what? On this speck you call earth? You're gonna wage war, you're gonna kill people for what? For oil, for energy? The cosmic perspective reorders what is important in this world. And it does it in, I think, the noblest of ways... By recognizing not what makes us all different but what makes us all common. Together. Alone. With the fate of our planet and our civilization in our hands..."- Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, Astrophysicist

The Milky Way: Galactic Center | Subaru Telescope
"I received this view along the length and breadth of the Milky Way Galactic Center in the summer of 2013, at the midway point of Mauna Kea on Hawaii Island. The purpose of that day’s photography was to take test pictures, preparing for the Perseids Meteor Shower."

"The Milky Way is comprised of a multitude of stars. From the surface of the Earth, the Milky Way looks like a river of faint milky-white light flowing across the night sky. However, in recent years, artificial light is increasing; in cities this light pollution makes it difficult to see the Milky Way. The summit of Mauna Kea is one of the few places in the world without light pollution. As a suitable location for astronomical observations, various countries build telescopes here. NAOJ’s Subaru Telescope, also on the summit of Mauna Kea, conducts observations every night."

"The paved road extends halfway up the slope of Mauna Kea to the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy Visitor Information Station, the location where this picture was taken. Ordinary people and tours have easy access. It is a recommended sightseeing spot when visiting Hawai’i Island. You can enjoy the night sky with good clarity and no light pollution, in a way that it cannot be seen from cities."

Our heifers are reared indoors but some have to go outside to loose a little condition. These 20 month old in calf heifers had been sent to a farm to graze but having never been outside got a little excited and ran straight through his fence. So they have been brought back to one of the inner paddocks to run it off!

Had a similar calf born last spring to the one posted below, this one was a charolais x british blue cross. He was that big at birth that he had bitten his tongue so had ulcers on it and couldnt sook, he had to be taken from his mum and raised by hand from a bucket. We had to split the feed into 3 lots as most used to get thrown across the floor.
