9 Reasons Why Time Management is Important

1. Time is limited
Everyone gets the same amount of time each day, and it's limited, therefore it's important to make the most of your time if you ever want to be more than average at the workplace.

2. Accomplish more with less effort
By taking control of your time, you're able to stay focused on the task at hand. This leads to higher efficiency since you never lose momentum. Imagine running a mile where you stop every 5 seconds, this would cause you to become exhausted very quickly and take much longer to complete the run.

3. Make better decisions
There are many choices in life and often-times we're faced with many choices to choose from at the same time. When you practice good time management, you have more time to breathe; this allows you to determine which choices are the best to make.
When you feel pressed for time and have to make a decision, you're more likely to jump to conclusions and not fully consider the different options; this leads to poor decision making.

4. Be more successful
Time management is the key to success; it allows you to take control of your life rather than follow the flow of others. You accomplish more, you make better decisions, and you work more efficiently; this leads to a more successful life.

5. Learn more
When you control your time and work more efficiently, you're able to learn more and increase your experience faster. There's a reason some students graduate earlier than others, so imagine implementing time management throughout your entire career. You'll not only stand out from the rest, but you'll gain experience must faster and be able to move up in life a lot sooner.

7 Steps in Decision Making

7 Steps in Decision Making: from Identification to Implementation

1 Identify a problem or opportunity
• The first step is to recognise a problem or to see opportunities that may be worthwhile.
• Will it really make a difference to our customers?
• How worthwhile will it be to solve this problem or realise this opportunity?

2 Gather information
• What is relevant and what is not relevant to the decision?
• What do you need to know before you can make a decision, or that will help you make the right one?
• Who knows, who can help, who has the power and influence to make this happen (or to stop it)?

3 Analyze the situation
• What alternative courses of action may be available to you?
• What different interpretations of the data may be possible?

4 Develop options
• Generate several possible options.
• Be creative and positive.
• Ask “what if” questions.
• How would you like your situation to be?

5 Evaluate alternatives
• What criteria should you use to evaluate?
• Evaluate for feasibility, acceptability and desirability.
• Which alternative will best achieve your objectives?

6 Select a preferred alternative
• Explore the provisional preferred alternative for future possible adverse consequences.
• What problems might it create?
• What are the risks of making this decision?

7 Act on the decision
• Put a plan in place to implement the decision.
• Have you allocated resources to implement?
• Is the decision accepted and supported by colleagues?
• Are they committed to making the decision work?

How to Organize Your Life: 10 Habits of Really Organized People

Really organized people are not born organized people. They have to cultivate healthy habits, which then help them to stay organized. Here are the essential ten habits they use to keep their lives in order:

1. Write Things Down
We all know someone that remembers every birthday and sends cards for every holiday. It’s not magic and they don’t use memorization. Trying to remember things will not help you to stay organized. You should try writing things down.
A pen and some paper is our way of remembering things externally, and it’s much more permanent. You can also use a computer or a smart phone. You will only further complicate your life by trying to contain important dates and reminders in your head. Write down everything: shopping lists for groceries, holiday gifts, home decor, and important dates like meetings and birthdays.
As an experiment, try writing down people’s names shortly after you meet them (when they’re not looking). I’ll bet you remember a lot more names that way.

2. Make Schedules and Deadlines
Organized people don’t waste time. They recognize that keeping things organized goes hand-in-hand with staying productive. They make and keep schedules for the day and week. They make deadlines and set goals. And most importantly, they and stick to them! Similarly, by living a cluttered lifestyle, you will not have the time or space to make your deadlines or achieve your goals.
As an experiment, look at your bucket list or make one. Write down the things you want to achieve this year or in your life. Then write down what you need to do to achieve them.

3. Don’t Procrastinate
The longer you wait to do something, the more difficult it will be to get it done. If you want your life to be less stressful and less demanding, then organize as soon as you can. Putting in the effort to get things done as soon as possible will lift the weight off of you from doing it later.
As an experiment, think of one thing that you should organize in your life. Write it down. Then write down when you can do it and what you need to get it done. If you can get it done right now, then go do it!

4. Give Everything a Home
It’s easy to get lost if you don’t have a home. Keeping your life organized means keeping your things in their proper places. Organized people keep order by storing things properly and by labeling storage spaces.
Make easy-to-access storage spaces for things you use all the time, and don’t let your storage spaces get cluttered. Be creative about finding places for things. In addition, as a BIG NO: never label a storage space as “miscellaneous!”
As an experiment, choose one place in your home that you can re-organize. If there are scattered items, then group them together. Once you’ve sorted everything, find or make a “home” for similar items, label the “homes,” and put them in the proper places. For example, a cup holder for your pens and pencils should go in an easily accessible place, but the rarely used craft materials can be stored out of sight.

5. Declutter Regularly
Find time each week to organize. Highly organized people make sure they find time every week, or more, to organize there things. Stuff does not stay organized on its own; it needs to be reorganized continuously and consistently.
As an experiment, look at your schedule and find a time to organize, then do it.

9 Ways To Believe In Yourself

Self-belief is one of the most important qualities of a happy and successful person. You can be the most beautiful and intelligent individual, strong athlete or clever entrepreneur, but without self-belief these qualities may never come out to the full extent. Self-belief is the foundation of your success both in life and work. In most cases, self-belief is something that we grow up with, but it doesn’t mean that we cannot develop this sense as adults. The following things can help you do that.

Volunteer work
Many people prefer not to think about it and not to notice it. However, in any society, even in the most developed and successful one, there are always people who need help. It may be kids from an orphanage, homeless people on the streets, war veteran in your building, etc.
Try to make someone’s day a bit better. Nothing improves self-esteem and self-respect more than realizing that you’ve helped someone. Charity and volunteer work can help not only other people in solving their problems, but it can also help you to feel better about yourself.

Make a list of your achievements
Do you bang your head against a brick wall being ready to give up in despair? Try to make a list of your personal winnings. There must have been difficult situations in your life and you found the way out. There must be some things that you are proud of. Making such a list will be a great psychological motivation that will help you believe in yourself.

Surround yourself with people who believe in you
If there are many people around who constantly criticize you and bring you down, no wonder you cannot fly. Negative people can play a huge role in your life. Try to eliminate such people from your life or at least communicate with them only if you don’t have other choice. Instead, find friends with similar interests and values who will support you and make you better.

Accept yourself
To believe in yourself, you first need to accept you for who you are. How can you believe in something you don’t fully accept? Accept your good qualities, acknowledge your flaws and maybe work on them. To believe in yourself, you have no other choice but to love yourself with all of your good and bad sides.
Change your perspective

8 Reasons You Should Be Proud Of Who You Are Today

1. You’ve overcome the irrational fears that plagued you as a child.
As a child, you couldn’t sleep without the comforting glow of a nightlight, you took running leaps onto your bed to keep your little toes from getting too close to the monsters under the bed, and spiders were tiny eight-legged devils that were out to get you. Now, you’ve debunked darkness and you’re more worried about your toes coming in contact with table legs than any monsters. While you never marked this as a significant transition in your life, eight-year-old you would be in awe by the Superman that you grew to be. (Though you still have that one Kryptonite fear, because you were completely right about spiders as a kid.)

2. You’ve overcome the rational fears, too.
As you grew, all those irrational fears were replaced with rational ones, like moving to a new school, going on your first date, and moving away from home, but you made it past all of those milestones. Sure, all those fears have been replaced with new fears like failure and tax audits, but you now have an innate confidence that you’ll surpass these fears too.

3. You can take care of yourself.
You finally mastered cooking (or at least have enough skill to survive) and laundry is a piece of cake. You spent the first eighteen years of your life wishing for a lock on your door, so the fact that you have a place of your own and are living your life the way you see fit is pretty amazing.

4. You’re exponentially closer to understanding who you are as an individual.
You’ll never know exactly who you are until the second before you die, but every day you embark on a journey to learn something new about yourself. You’ll discover a new band or try a new food, and be able to declare that this is who you are right now, and this is what you like, and you’re freaking great.
5. You can laugh at things that used to mortify you.
Remember that time in biology when you accidentally said “orgasm” instead of “organism”? You were sure that you would never recover from such an embarrassment, but now it’s a story that you tell to all your friends over beers and between laughs.

10 Tips for Staying Happy at Work

1. Keep Personal Problems Personal

When you're preoccupied with personal issues, it's difficult to concentrate or be happy at work, says Alison Rhodes, a founding partner of The Balance Team. By all means, make sure you have your kids covered in the event of an emergency, but realize that nobody's personal life is ever going to be completely problem-free. Just as you need to let go of work to enjoy your time at home, it's important to leave personal worries at home so you can focus and be productive at work.

2. Create an Office Nest

"You are at your job for at least eight hours a day, which is more time than you probably spend in your bed," says Jennifer Star, a founding partner of The Balance Team. "Make your space your own, decorate your area as much as your company policy permits, and make yourself as comfortable and relaxed as you can be in your office.

7 Reasons Why You Need to Be a Big Dreamer

Being a big dreamer doesn’t mean that you walk around with your head in the clouds. It means that you’re seeking a purpose for your life and it means that you’re becoming fulfilled in the process.
People that get into the habit of dreaming big will accomplish those goals because they have the right mindset.

You need to look at life with the perspective that you can achieve anything that’s possible. If you can accomplish big dreams, why wouldn’t you go after them? Why would you want to settle for small dreams?

Here’s a list of reasons why you should be a big dreamer:

1.    Following Your Dreams Connects You to Your Inner Self. If you want to be happy right down to the core of your being, you need to be a big dreamer. Big dreams can fulfill you right down to the soul because you’ve sought out your true purpose in life. It’s likely the biggest reason why you wouldn’t want to settle on small dreams.

2.    Because You Have a Choice. You should be a big dreamer because you do have a choice in the matter. Sure you might have a goal or dream that is very difficult to achieve. You might come face to face with failure, and that can be rather frightening. Many people are led down the path where they decide to never attempt their ultimate “big dreams”. You don’t have to be one of these people. You can choose to follow your biggest dreams.

3.    You’ll Be Following Your True Calling. There are not many feelings that could be considered better than knowing that you’ve found the meaning in your life. Perhaps you don’t know what your true calling in life is yet, and you won’t get to that point without dreaming big first. Some people might say that their true calling fell right into their lap, but this isn’t always the case. You need to do some deep thinking and take action in order to get there.

8 Simple Ways to Inspire Yourself at Work

1) Read a book.

There are thousands of great, time-tested books available for inspiration and motivation. I wrote on LinkedIn about nine great books that have inspired me and changed my life here. I'm currently reading another amazing, timeless, inspirational book that is having a profound impact: How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

2) Write a blog post or letter.

Reading can be very valuable, but writing requires more thinking, and so it can be even more valuable. Write about something you're passionate about - write about how to solve a problem, or write an article about your business that you wish you had read yourself a year ago. You don't even need to publish it for writing to be effective. But if you do want to publish it, here's how to become a better writer.

3) Exercise.

Sometimes you just need to get the blood flowing. Go for a walk, or a run, or a workout. There are two great advantages of exercise: First, it's healthy for your body. Second, it forces you to spend time thinking - time when you can't be on your smartphone or otherwise distracted. As little as 15 minutes of movement can burn some calories - and set your mind on fire with new ideas and inspiration.

4) Write a thank you note.

Not a thank you email, or a thank you text, or even a thank you phone call - a physical, hand-written thank you note. Tony Robbins said, "Gratitude is the antidote to the two things that stop us: fear and anger." I have found that is impossible to feel upset and grateful at the same time. So every morning, I start out my day by writing three thank-you cards. Here's more about my thank-you card routine.
