Experimental long form post by @karlbimshas on @LinkedIn(A Short Story to Transform Wishes into Work)
Kevin Turtle started the day as he had started every other day for the last two years, by dreading to get up. Each morning he faced the same dilemma. How would he get done everything he felt he had to get done, knowing nearly none of it was what he wanted to get done? He had heard people he admired speak of balance between work and life. He liked the idea but hated the phrase, work-life balance. He did not stop living when he went to work, althou...

How inflated ego and irrational fear hurt your follow-up => http://linkd.in/1IEh7Op Tip @LinkedInPulse
There are two types of follow-up. First, the kind you initiate:“I am calling about the proposal I sent you.”“You committed to that action by Tuesday, how is it going?”“Did you remember to send your mother a birthday card?”Second, the kind where you are the recipient:“I am calling about the proposal I sent you.”“You committed to that action by Tuesday, how is it going?”“Did you remember to send your mother a birthday card?”There are not inherent d...

Commitment doesn't cut it.
Lack of initiative is because of an abundance of fear. While it is true apathy could play a role, those who do not care are not reading this, so why bother to spend any time trying to appeal to their better judgment. It is not important to them.Besides, you can hide apathy behind proclamations of an inability. Fortunately, an inability can be conquered. There are limbless kids constructing custom-fitted, brightly colored, prosthetic hands for the...

Passion Gets Too Much Credit (with apologies to Valentine's Day)
There is an inherent danger in people citing passion as their primary reason for deciding something because passion has nothing to do with reason. It is all emotion. As a result, it doesn't require thinking. Once an emotion consumes all the energy you feed it, it retreats until provoked again. This an exhausting process; inefficient and likely to do more harm than good.Remember the word passion comes from the Latin word, patere, which roughly mea...

Introduction
Your Talent is a Terrible Thing to Waste

The average person spends more time and money on activities that contribute to their personal detriment than to their personal development. Luckily, you're not average. You're a high performing leader and artist.

Leaders and artists surround themselves with positive people who uplift them and challenge them to even greater levels of accomplishment. The leader and artist do not ask, "When is it enough, when can I finish?" They know it is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. They are devoted to learning and looking at the world differently in order to achieve their goals and aspirations.

You know this to be true, but maybe you have an uncertainty over your vision. You have been feeling frustrated, overwhelmed and discouraged while trying to complete someone else's goals instead of your own.

Your dreams keep getting deferred. It's not their fault, it's yours. They are yourdreams, goals, and aspirations. You created them. You own them. They are your responsibility.  What's holding you back?

Leaders and artists thrive with creativity, innovation, and daring when they make time for reflection and revelation. Maybe you need a fresh pair of eyes. Someone who can give you an unbiased opinion and can guide you along the untended path you know leads toward your goal. An accountability partner driven by your success whose goal is to see you succeed.  Someone who can help find the a-ha that's within you. Karl Bimshas can be that accountability partner for you..
