Those of us working in environments that require the body to be fairly stationary behind a desk/computer for extended periods of time can develop or exacerbate musculoskeletal abnormalities. Neck and back strain, muscle spasms, spinal disc disorders, and joint sprains are all common issues that can emerge or be aggravated by sustaining various work-sitting positions. In addition to making sure your workstation is setup ergonomically correct, an important way to minimize exacerbating these foreseen issues is to perform stretching exercises periodically throughout the day. Try these exercises at least twice daily to reduce pain and improve the health of your muscles and joints.

A new, innovative treatment called DRG stimulation is now available to Pain clinicians in the US to manage intractable, debilitating pain. Dorsal root ganglion stimulation has been used in Europe and Australia for 4+ years with exceptional results. Recent studies have confirmed its superior effectiveness for CRPS/RSD/Causalgia. Additionally, for those extremely difficult and post-surgical painful areas (abdomen/groin, hip, knee, ankle/foot), this tool has far exceeded our previously limited options. To be sure, it is very exciting to be a medical ambassador for my patients in this age of cutting edge innovation!

This is an interesting article. Research has shown that sitting applies more pressure to the spine than multiple standing positions. Therefore, if you have spinal disc disease and/or want to be healthier, I would challenge you to consider altering you workstation over time to allow for standing.

This is a great educational piece for describing the facet (zygoapophyseal) joint structures and their nervous supply. These nerves (medial branches from the posterior primary rami) are what we target when performing radio frequency ablation procedures..."spinal nerve burning."

Neck pain can be as funtionally limiting as lower back pain. It can be argued that it may be worse given the tendency to potentially cause debilitating headaches. If you are stricken with this issue, proper postural corrections and daily stretching exercises can be helpful. This article provides good tips regarding this and other helpful ideas.

Step away from the technology and make time for your physical health. #motionislotion for muscles and joints!
Dynamic modeling to show the process of #flexion is what we do. Disc compression and hydraulic height loss along with reversing the natural cervical lordosis curvature that we develop as a baby is being lost. https://dynamicdiscdesigns.com/product/hypermobilty-cervical-model/
