Minimum consequence for fraud within your business should be termination of those who committed the crime.

What to do when you suspect employee theft or fraud:Lock It Down!


When you suspect an employee or partner of theft or fraud, it becomes vital to start backing up your financial information.


Make sure you have copies of information stored on hard drives, get IT involved and who can copy the hard drive of the suspects secretly.


Make sure you have copies of payroll, bookkeeping records, expense reports...
Just keep in mind, the suspect may also have access to these records as well.

When completing background checks, hospitality employers take a number of factors into consideration if negative information surfaces.


Employers may consider the type of incident, how serious the incident was, how long ago it occurred and whether it relates to the job at hand.


For example, if you were found guilty of intoxicated driving last year, you might not be hired as a bartender.


However, if you had a DUI conviction six years ago, have attended required alcohol safety classes and are applying for an assistant concierge post at a hotel unrelated to alcohol consumption, the hotel manager might overlook the past mistake.


It's up to the employer and their gut feeling after reviewing all the information available.
