AIA 2017 National Convention
Orlando, Florida

The highly anticipated American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2017 National Convention began in Orlando this week at the Orange County Convention Center.

Our staff has been very excited to attend many of the events, including the project tours. Four Rhodes+Brito Architects projects were selected by AIA Orlando to be part of the local tours. These include: Orlando Citrus Bowl (now known as Camping World Stadium), Orlando Downtown Public Library (we renovated a large part of the 4th Floor), Heroes Commons at Jefferson Park (our Arts for Architecture Homes for Veterans) and the FAMU Law School. Employees and Principals have been preparing and will be providing narrated and guided tours of these projects.

Several of our staff were present yesterday to hear Keynote Speaker, former First Lady Michelle Obama. During her talk, she indicated that in the past she had served on a Historic Board in Chicago, and mentioned her appreciation of Architects. News sources indicated this may have been her first speech since leaving the white house.
