The flat spin he gets into was far more dangerous than appreciated in this video. In the early days of skydiving it killed many and at the altitudes he was jumping with lack of atmosphere to regain control it can wind up extremely fast, causing black out and death, that's why he had, but didn't use an emergency drogue to regain stability.
At the end you get to see some B&W film of Joe Kittinger's jumps in 1961. He was my boyhood hero for those jumps and was Felix's CapCom on this jump. His comment about how he "couldn't have done better" is a quite 'literal' statement but in his day he did far more with little technology than is possible today.
