There are a few novels about Carthage and Hannibal etc (hopefully to eventually include my own work in progress). And academic books about Roman Mosaics in Tunisia. I heard once upon a time there was to be a movie made about Hannibal as well--which would be really amazing if done well.
Thank you for sharing this!

That is very funny :) Years ago I wrote some short scenes for some interactive historical fiction on a now-defunct website. I wrote some, what other people called, steamy scenes, without ever referring to any body parts euphemistically or otherwise. I feel much the same way about describing battle, or murder, scenes. I would like to think it is possible to do either well, without explicit detail.

My first historical fiction sale (short story), entitled "The Speech of Hortensia," is coming out in March 2013 in the anthology HerStory by Pagan Writers Press. Twenty-seven writers tell stories of strong women throughout history.

i have posted a few rough excerpts of some of my Works in Progress on my blog at http://www.marieaparsons.com/ and at http://mparsonswritingandmusings.com/  They all need to be revised which shall be done soon. My current focuses are on the novel centered on Octavia which is historical fiction, (which is intended as one of a quartet), the novel centered on Romulus and Remus, and the urban fantasy entitled Vengeance Burns.

I also post Book Reviews at http://mparsonswritingandmusings.com/.

Hello all. I am on Twitter (@mAntoniaP) I occasionally use #amwriting but I don't always remember to follow it there. I had three short scifi stories published about 20 years ago. After reading ancient and medieval history for years thereafter, I am now embarking on writing historical fiction. My flash fiction short SF story titled "Last One Out" is on a podcast on the web. I will have a short story set in ancient Rome coming out in an anthology this spring. I am busy writing several novels set in ancient Rome and medieval Italy.

Nice to meet you all!
