How many of these do you know? #freelancewriting
By Jennifer Roland When you’re first starting out as a freelance writer, it can feel like you’ve landed in a foreign country. Editors tend to speak in their own special jargon. You want to pick up the lingo fast, so that you can present yourself professionally. New terms are added all the time, too. To help you out, here's a handy glossary of the freelance writing terms you need to know to communicate with editors and business clients without sou...

This coworking website sounds really cool and I hope to try it out the next time I'm in NYC or CA!
To overcome the isolation mainly freelancers feel on a daily basis, one investigative reporter created SpareChair, an affordable marketplace for your coworking needs.

Mommy, where do #freelance  clients come from? My latest blog post breaks it down.
In anticipation of the New Year, I've begun looking at new goals and strategies for 2015. One exercise I did was to list all my clients for 2013 and 2014 in Excel (I already have a list of invoices in Excel so this was fairly easy to do). I added a column indicating the ones were already ...

Great post by +Mridu Khullar Relph about supposed #writingrules  that aren't really that important.
by Mridu Khullar Relph. Writers, generally speaking, are rule breakers. We don't like conformity and therefore, we write. Yet, by our nature, we're insecure little things and like to be told little rules that we can follow to achieve success in our chosen paths. Contradictory?

The pastries at Three Little Figs are so, so good! I'm looking at you, pear and fig scone and French toast muffin. :) The one downside to this delightful little coffee shop is their limited hours. It would be nice to have a place outside of Davis and Porter where I can grab a pastry and tea in the evening, but alas Three Little Figs closes at 4pm.

With its self-serve frozen yogurt stations and make your own Belgian waffle machines, iYo reminds me of the college dining hall (in a good way). So far, I've tried the Tahitian vanilla (my favorite), white chocolate mousse, and red velvet frozen yogurts, and all are delicious. Also check out the funky photography in the back. This is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day!

I've eaten at the second floor bar and on the third floor roofdeck. It's a bit out of the way, but sipping martinis at Legal Harborside is like taking a vacation because it doesn't feel like Boston. The water views alone are worth the trip and the roofdeck in particular has a breezy summer vibe that reminds me of the best vacations. It does get crowded so arrive early to claim a good spot. Also, rather than waiting at the bar, I've found that it's faster to order drinks from one of the waitresses walking around.
