Flu season must haves!!!!

1. Vitamin C
The star of ALL facial serums!
Not just the STAR in cosmetic world, but the ESSENTIAL of making skin, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, for healing wounds , forming scar tissue, and repairing & maintaining bones and teeth.
Vitamin C reacts with free radicals in blood or inside cells to protect DNA, proteins, and long chain fatty acids from potential damage.
So, this flu season
By taking vitamin C daily- it will help support the immune system & offers prevention of and treatment for colds.
It is recommended to take at least 1000mg of Vitamin C everyday, you can take it as a powdered vitamin C in a glass of water, pill, or in liquid form.
Where it can be found: Berries, pepper, oranges, broccoli and more

2. Vitamin D
Good things come from the sun, but in the cold days the UV levels from the Sun are much lower. So, our levels of Vitamin D synthesis may drop. Vitamin is D is well known for its role in supporting calcium absorption to maintain strong bones and teeth, it also boost our immune system to help prevent major disease.

It is recommended to take high dose of 2,000 IU of Vitamin D during cold days.
(Sept-April).
Where it can be found: Beef liver, egg yolks, cheese, fatty fish, and more.

3. Vitamin E
Vitamin E is known to help building up the skin, because of its moisturizing properties. Our skin gets dry and flaky during the cold season; hence the intake of this vitamin is crucial.
Vitamin E is helps reduce inflammation, protects the cells, reduce the symptoms associated with stress and also protects the heart, eyes and more.

It is recommended to take 1000 mg daily.
Where it can be found: Meat and fish, vegetables like spinach, broccoli, and nuts.

4. Vitamin B
Essential during winter, it helps heal crack lips and prevent skin from drying. It’s also good for managing stress and fueling energy to strengthen the immune system. If fatigue is your complaint then take B complex or multivitamins containing high dose of vitamin B.
It is recommended to take from 50 to 100 mg each morning.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VITAMIN C
While some animals can make their own Vitamin C, people must get this vitamin from food, supplements and skin care products.
SOURCES OF VITAMIN C
Good sources of Vitamin C are fresh fruits and vegetables.
FRUITS CONTAINING VITAMIN C
Everybody knows that the main fruits that contain Vitamin C are citrus fruits, such us orange, lemon and lime. You might have not known that also other fruits contain a great amount of this vitamin such us papaya, mango, grapefruits, berries (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry), kiwi, water melon and there is also some Vitamin C in banana, apple and pear.
VEGETABLES CONTAINING VITAMIN C
Vitamin C is not only found in delicious fresh fruits, but also in some vegetables such as cauliflower, bell peppers, papaya, broccoli, kale, sweet potato, and tomato.
VITAMIN C IN FOODS IS BETTER THAN SUPPLEMENTS
Vitamin C can also be made in the laboratory, but is recommended getting Vitamin C from a diet high in fruits and vegetables rather than taking supplements.
Fresh squeezed orange juice is a better pick than “ready to go” orange juice simply because fresh juice contains more active Vitamin C.
SOME TRICKS AND TIPS IF YOU FOR SOME REASONS PREFER READY TO DRINK JUICE
If you prefer the ready to drink orange juice, it’s recommended to buy it 3 to 4 weeks before expiration date, and drink it within 1 week of opening.
THE RECOMMENDED DAILY INTAKE FOR VITAMIN C:
~For men 19 and older: 90mg/daily
~For women 19 and older:75mg/daily
Because Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, the kidneys will remove any extra that is not needed by the body. However consuming large amounts of Vitamin C may lead to: nausea, diarrhea, cramps, increased risk of kidney stones.

WHAT IS THE BIG ROLE OF VITAMIN C IN OUR BODY?
~Vitamin C plays a big role in the absorption of iron from food (Iron is an essential element for the production of the blood) hardening the arteries, preventing clots in veins and arteries. In doing so, it will prevent heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
~Helps to get rid of chemicals that damage your cells and DNA. Vitamin C, by protecting your DNA from photochemical reactions, it reduces the risk of tumor, and skin cancer.
~This vitamin is one of the strongest antioxidant and it works by neutralizing free radicals in our body created by pollution, cigarette, sunlight etc.
~Builds skin, bones, muscles, and more. Our body would fall apart without the protein collagen. Collagen fiber twist around each other holding bones, cartilage, skin, muscle, and ligaments. You need collagen to grow new skin and make scar tissue when getting a cut. OUR BOBY CANNOT MAKE COLLAGEN WITHOUT VITAMIN C.
~Brain Booster; You need Vitamin C to make key hormones that carry signals from your brain all over your body. They effect your mood, memory, motivation and how you feel pain.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF VITAMIN C?
~Preventing and treating common cold
~Treat gum infection and gum disease
~Reduce and prevent bronchitis symptoms
~Very beneficial also for depression, thinking problems, physical and mental stress, attention deficit disorder
VITAMIN C AND SKIN
~Vitamin C is mainly responsible for collagen synthesis which is found in the connective tissue and helps with wound healing. Collagen also provides structure for the blood vessels. The tiny blood vessels under the skin carry oxygen and nutrients that keep the skin healthy. Without enough nutrients skin will become rough and dry. Skin Care products containing Vitamin C will improve texture of the skin this, in turn, firms and tones the skin.
~Vitamin C can prevent and treat sunburn, and fade brown spots
~Vitamin C reduce the effect of induced erythema (superficial reddening of the skin)
~Treats Eczema. One good way to treat eczema is a combination of Vitamin C and Zinc
SKIN VITAMIN C DEFICIENCY
Insufficient Vitamin C can result in:
~Accelerate aging process
~Bruising or bleeding easily due to weakened collagen
~Slow recovery from infections
~Risk of dark spots or sun spots
Don’t worry and have some Vitamin C!!!
