Design Challanges  -

So I did a bad thing apparently the other day. Using my primitive drawing below to explain the topology, I added OSPF area 248 to the point to point links between 2 of our remote sites to provide some redundancy. That created something very bad as things started dropping like flys around the campus network here. That cannot happen again as I was barely able to remove OSPF between those 2 sites before things started going dark to the internet. That only was in place for about 20 seconds but during that time, I lost connectivity to 8.8.8.8 here at our campus of more than 10,000 users. Are there any recommendations for what I should do to provide redundancy here with the topology we have below? I was thinking maybe BGP would work better but I don't know much about BGP. I have been in networking for about a year.

Hi Brandon, There is no problem by placing backdoor link between remote sites in Area 248 in your design. Whether you use BGP is different story and I have lots of article on my website about those but just based on your design, that should work and shouldn't be instability on campus network.

By placing backdoor in Area 248, Site B would choose Site A to reach Campus network unless Service Provider is running shamanic on their network as well as SP Managed router is used as PE. If those routers are not running MPLS VPN, then you can maximum get OE even SP would do shamlink. (By the way if SP would do it, your stuff would know it, thus i don't think so)

If SP managed routers are not running MPLS, when you add backdoor link, always that link will be used as primary. How you create routing loop which can affect Campus network with this design, I don't see any reason unless you start to send default route from remote sites or if you cannot reach only 8.8.8.8 prefix, maybe you used it somewhere at the remote site.

Last but not least, there is also OSPF PE-CE post on my website, I would recommend you to take a look at those.

I guess its finally time to get up and start the day huh? I heard it rained easier, guess that means not doing yard work? I'll just go get a haircut and subway instead then!

Well the weather sure was fun today... Floods, water rescues, trees down, power outages, and 4 wheel drive. Gotta love the weather and roads around Abilene! Not!!

I'm steaming mad!
Looking for a car charger that will be powerful enough to charge my phone while Google GPS is running and navigating me around on full screen brightness. So frustrating! I'll find one some day right? Right? Hello??

Staying up late, the night before I gotta drive 15-ish hours to Florida so I can marry the love of my life, because my dog Harlow is acting weird. Can't tell Caitlyn cause it'd just stress her out. Hopefully he gets better and soon! I hope its nothing serious though... He just started eating so I guess I'll see if he can keep the food down or not cause there aren't any vets I know that are open at 2am... :(

The suite was spacious with a full kitchen. The parking was weird and there wasn't much of it. Also we had ants in our room in the kitchen area. The room was clean and very nice otherwise though. Had there been no ants, I'd give it 5 stars.

We pulled our daughter out of her last daycare center because we felt she was being ignored and not cared for properly. After placing her in this location, we feel much better about it. I see the director and manager keeping good tabs on the staff, never yelling in front of the kids (like her last daycare center did) and you can tell they work hard to take care of the kids. The staff count the kids and keep track of how many kids are in each room at all times to ensure the staff do not get outnumbered. When they are short, the manager and director have no problem filling in the gaps themselves by going in the rooms with the kids to help out. It seems like everyone there pulls their weight to make this place a real success. Leaving your kids with other people can be a very hard thing to come to terms with for working parents. This daycare, and this staff in particular, make it easier.

We have taken our three dogs there on multiple occasions so I figured its time to review them here. They have been in for check ups, boarding, and grooming services and everyone is always very friendly and knowledgeable. I know there are a few bad reviews on here but in my experience with vets, somebody always has someone to blame when it comes to vets. These folks are legit though in my experience. I would recommend them to anyone.

Staff very friendly, and they actually take their time to make sure the arrangements are something of beauty. I went there looking for something nice for my wife, and the staff took their time to guide me around and build something very special for her right there on the spot. I will go here again.

The food here is very good, definitely better than your typical chain restaurant. My only compliant is that if you plan on dining in there you might have a little bit of a wait. The staff is really friendly however it seems they do not have enough people for the load of the entire dining room so if you go there during peak hours you may have quite a long wait for drinks/food etc. regardless of whether its ready or not. Despite having to wait on the servers however, I still frequent this place very often as it is very good pizza.

The food was very tasty. You get a deal of 20% off your order when you show them to tickets for the blue man group which is in the Monte Carlo as well. The food was decently priced but the server we got was horrible. Once we were done eating, it took at least 15 minutes to even receive the check. It wasn't like it was busy either, so I'm not sure what's up with that...
