Q&A and Troubleshooting  -
 #LG

Battery Full notification has to go. Every night I am woken up by this unnecessary noise. I am ready to flash an AOSP ROM if this cannot be stopped. Who in LG thought even for a moment that it is a good idea to wake G3 users every night? I have searched and searched and there is no simple way around this (so far). The is a complex work around using Tasker which I will try, but it should be an on/off toggle setting.

Except "Do not disturb" does not work as the Battery app bypasses it.

My last comment on the subject.

After a thousand years of using Debian and derivatives I have switched to Fedora 21 with Gnome 3.14.  Linux is Linux or GNU/Linux if you prefer so it was not that hard. A gentle learning curve. So far so good. My Canon scanner gets the same error as it did in Debian. Invalid Argument. The error is in the kernel and USB3 libs and upstream of the distros - I think. Will I still be using Fedora in two weeks? Now I have it all sorted out there is little incentive to change.

Well it lasted three days. Everything worked, but it was just not Debian. Back on Sid where I belong.

Feature Discussion  -

Headphones without microphones and car aux connections

There is one frustrating "feature" shared across all ROMs for my Sony Xperia Z. If you plug your phone into your car's aux input to play music and the phone rings you find the phone microphone is muted. The only way to answer is to unplug. The same thing happens with headphones that do not have a microphone. This was never an issue with stock ROMs from Sony and older phones that I have owned - I simply answered the phone and spoke through the phone with the inbound audio still coming from the car system (or headphones).

This seems like a simple thing to me, but maybe not.

So, do OmniROM users of other not Sony phones have this issue with aux inputs?

Griffin SmartTalk Headphone Adapter. $11 on eBay. Advertised for iPhones but works just fine with the Z. The button works for answering and hanging up. A simple hardware solution (or work around) for the software issue.

It snowed on the mountains overnight. Perfect backdrop for our pending ride on the Bernina Express.

For Australian Optus users. The recent update for the Nexus 7 (2103) LTE to Lollipop kills your 4G connectivity but it is easy to fix. The auto configuration is just wrong.

Go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> More -> Cellular networks -> Access Point Names and tap on Optus Internet and change APN to CONNECT and Authentication type to PAP and then tap on the three dots (top right) and tap on save. Let it sit for a few monents and it will connect to 4G.

Thanks for that +Greg Eden. In still waiting for the Optus TV app to be updated so it doesn't drop out in lollipop when you try and stream video.

Most unhappy. Lollipop update has ruined my Bluetooth audio streaming. Momentary pauses in the audio playback several times in each song. Searching the net shows many many people have the same issue. The only solution is to use Dalvik runtime instead of ART, which you cannot do in Lollipop - so a roll back to KitKat is the only fix. So, if Bluetooth music playback is important to you and you have not yet received Lollipop then do not upgrade.

A minor update to Lollipop came through OTA yesterday  and my Bluetooth audio is now streaming properly. Good work from LG.
