http://news.stanford.edu/news/2014/april/walking-vs-sitting-042414.html?hn

"Walking ... boosted creative inspiration", and I'm sure it improved perspiration as well :) but maybe not the "creative perspiration" (99% of creativity according to some), which I imagine requires the "focused thinking" mentioned in the article plus a lot of mental stamina.
Stanford researchers found that walking boosts creative inspiration. They examined creativity levels of people while they walked versus while they sat. A person's creative output increased by an average of 60 percent when walking.

The Types of Caffeine as Expressed by Owls

I am a fan of this...if this was a concert band I would wear their band shirt and tell my friends about it even though they probably wouldn't have heard of them.

More than five centuries after Christopher Columbus’s flagship, the Santa Maria, was wrecked in the Caribbean, archaeological investigators think they may have discovered the vessel’s long-lost remains – lying at the bottom of the sea off the north coast of Haiti. It’s likely to be one of the world’s most important underwater archaeological discoveries.

Breaking News! Scientists had to sequence the genes of non-bony fish to discover that they don't have bones... I often wonder how much gets lost in translation in such news articles about published scientific work. Apparently, sometimes almost everything gets lost.

70 years on and WW2 bombs are still being dug out.

1 dead after World War II-era bomb explodes in Germany

A World War II-era bomb killed a construction worker and injured eight others after it exploded in the German town Euskirchen on Friday.

The bomb was dislodged by a mechanical digger during excavations. Several neighboring streets were also damaged by the explosion.

Hundreds of World War II bombs are uncovered in Germany every year and most are safely detonated. Euskirchen was often hit by Allied bombs during the war.

An amazing place for day hikes. The Ohlone wilderness trail passes through it, so it's a good place for long hikes to Del Valle or to Mission Peak, as well as for backpacking the trail, but there's more here. I like the Vista Grande hike, especially in fall where everything starts getting a nice red brown tint.

granite mountains, waterfalls, amazing views, etc. This place is amazing all year round. Hiking up Half-Dome is a must-do classic, and there are plenty of other hikes to do here.
