Thinking about a new electric car?

Hybrids are no longer a new technology. Almost every auto manufacturer now has at least one option. In the ongoing push for better fuel mileage, Hybrids are giving way to electric cars.
Many Electric cars still have a gas engine but only as a source for electric power. The gas engine doesn’t actually connect to the wheels.

What does this mean for the consumer? It means we now need to consider how we are going to “charge” up our new wheels. The best method is to install a Charging Unit. It connects to your service panel in your home and has a connector for your car and cord similar to a gas hose in size.

The good news is these are available from multiple sources and a qualified electrician can install one in a morning at your home.
The bad news is in Atlanta, you need a special permit to install one. These permits should only be pulled by trained professionals who are familiar with the specific nature of Electric Car Charging Stations. We always make sure to know the exact use of the charging station before we install.

There are also many different models of charging stations. Some may or may not be appropriate for your use.
In all, I am glad to see technology finding its way into our transportation. When in doubt, professionals are almost always a better option for safety around electrical devices.
