The TCL Chinese Theatre is technically not available to the public for regular viewings although there will be a lot of premieres shown. There are tours available for the general public. I was fortunate enough to watch a few premieres in here though. It's a beautiful theater that has been slightly renovated to my knowledge. The seats are comfy; the theater itself is huge with a tall ceiling and some regal decor. The screen quality is solid and it has an overall nice feel. Obviously, this is only for special occasions but it's highly recommended if you can go.

This is a really famous place in Hollywood. The place is awesome. Difficult to describe. Is like a cartoon style huge Theatre entrance that has a circular hall. The place is so famous that you can find replicas of it in a lot of Warner Bros and Universal Studios parks.

I had a tour today and loved the tour guide - five stars for him! I have not seen a movie here, but give a slightly lower score due to allowing hustlers out in front of such an iconic place. I had one guy before the tour come up & give me a CD then expecting money. I gave him a few ones given he pushed it on me - I did not want his crappy music (and for all I know it's blank or not his). He gave me attitude, wanting a $20. After my tour of the theatre, another guy tried the same thing. I tried saying no, that I had someone pushy before. He then expressed sympathy, "someone did that? where is he? that's wrong" and at first I started to buy that he might be different. Only then as he talks me up, I'm soon surrounded by a few others. They all then start piling CDs on me and asking for $20. In contrast, I had a Captain America and a black Marilyn pose for pics and ask for $5. I am not a well-off man but I don't mind giving out a few bucks here and there, and the actors were very nice. But with the CD pushers, I ended up throwing the CDs back and storming away. I did not care for any CDs to begin with, but I might not have minded given $5 to a couple. But a horde all asking for $20? Such an esteemed institution like this needs to do something to get these jerks away from here, because even though I've seen some great reviews of the movie experience, I don't think I'll be coming back if I have to deal with more of that. Props to the tour guide though.

This movie theater is great! The screen is huge and it is easy to forget you are in a movie theater let alone watching a film with so many other people in the same room. The seats are very comfortable & staff was friendly even with a packed house. The decor is fun and makes the whole experience a little more special. I bought tickets on fandango and was able to skip the will call line by just showing my confirmation with date & seat number at the door. This was especially great since the line was super long and also the sidewalk is really busy since the theater is located in the middle of the most touristy part of Hollywood. The concessions are very expensive. I think the water bottles were $5.50?! I just asked for a cup and they were happy to give me tap water. The popcorn looked more on par with other movie theater pricing. Unless you want to pay a ton though, I'd recommend skipping the snacks.

Awesome interior and great quality - until the sound system broke down mid-way through the film we were watching, Interstellar. Apparently, the sound is so booming that it blows out the sound system. This had also happened the night before and a couple audience members we talked to said they were back to see the ending! I was told that this is an issue for movie shot on film, such as Interstellar, not digital. Still, it seems that the IMAX people should have planned for the full experience on film as well as digital. They have their work cut out for them to remedy this problem - but I just called the theater and they said it happened again in the middle of last week. So people are taking their chances if they go to see the film. Too bad.

The movie theater was a little underwhelming. Don't get it twisted, it really is a spectacle, I just personally didn't think that the movie going experience was anything spectacular. Maybe it is because I saw Godzilla there and that movie was a little weak
