Perfect place to hang out in Kyoto with a cup of coffee and a book. The atmosphere is so inviting and cozy with large tables, vintage style furniture, books on the walls and sofas. They have excellent smoothies and shakes. My favorite smoothie is the orange-cardamom. The bakery attached to it provides delicious pastries (try the tartes with fruits of the season). You can also have lunch or dinner, or drinks (beer, wine). The only negative thing about this cafe is that they allow smoking.

Excellent place to have lunch after visiting the temples in this area. Food is Italian-Japanese fusion - for example, cold angel hair pasta with tomatoes, capers, mentaiko (tiny white fish) in an olive oil/vinegar sauce. Set menu comes with salad, three little starters, main dish, dessert and coffee or tea. The interior is minimalist and modern, a lovely place to have a quiet lunch or dinner. Highly recommended!

This is the best gourmet supermarket in Kyoto. You can buy prepared foods (sushi, sashimi, pickled vegetables, bento boxes), fresh fruit (which is really good), vegetables, diary products, bread, and of course, Japanese food - a dizzying array and wide selection of top quality ingredients for cooking. Second floor has Western food (olive oil, muesli, cereal), tea, coffee, wine. Third floor is a lovely cafe-restaurant overlooking a roof garden where they grow vegetables. Also a great place to have pastry and coffee or to have lunch.

Innovative, very refined, modern Japanese cuisine served in a small, lovely restaurant using local seasonal ingredients - creative use of ingredients such as figs and grapes; a local special type of eggplant (it even has a serial number); sashimi and more. You pre-order a multi-course dinner when you reserve (tell them if you have any allergies) and they surprise you with amazing small dishes so beautifully presented on the plate. Perfect service, reasonable prices for the quality of the food and the freshness of the ingredients. Do not miss this hidden gem when you are in Kyoto.

Absolutely memorable dinner at this restaurant! They serve dishes with fresh seasonal ingredients, very well prepared and delicious. It was easy to make a reservation even if I don't speak Japanese.
