Overpriced with small portions. Had the swordfish special, if you call a 6oz. piece special. My wife had the chicken which was ok, but nearly choked on the hush puppies that were so loaded with pepper. Not going back and we avoid it at the track.

Great food. Loved the fried Chicken. Shrimp and Grits is best I have ever had. Family friendly with a full bar

After many years in May of 2013 I had the good fortune to sample Hattie's famous fried chicken which is acclaimed by just about everyone I run into in the Saratoga Springs greater area. The chicken was moist and tender, shall I say, juicy, like my mother used to make. The Cole Slaw was laced with cranberries which I have since added to my own recipe. In my two trips to Hatties in the past couple of months parking was a bit hard to find but well worth the short walk to Hattie's front door. Phil the Mover

Me and my wife have heard a lot about hatties. While being native to the north and not having a lot of experience with southern style cooking we could both honestly call this place over rated. Not only did the wait staff seem put out by having to do their jobs but the food was extremely bland. The chicken was juicy but it was as if the cook forgot to add even salt and pepper to it. It is extremely expensive for what you get, the waitstaff has no manners, and the food was not enjoyable. Only good experience was the hostess who was extremely kind. Will not go again

Way over rated! Heard the hype and I was truly disappointed. Expensive chicken plates and the ribs where undercooked and not even smoked. Wait staff was inattentive had to keep asking waiter for water.

Hattie’s has seriously good fried chicken. I am from the south and know what I'm talking about. The chicken is tender and perfectly cooked; the batter is well seasoned and crispy just the way it should be. Get the chicken! Beyond that, I’m not in love with Hattie’s. The problem is an overall bias toward making things too sweet—like the collards, a vegetable that should be exposed to sugar only in tiny amounts if at all. On the other hand, the overall sweetness is probably why Hattie’s is my 11-year old’s favorite restaurant. Ambience is that of a screen porch in the deep South—genteel in a sort of tattered but appealing way. This is a very popular place and they DON'T take reservations (except for certain peak times, like Skidmore graduation), so be prepared for a wait.

Had heard so much about this restaurant. Have eaten at many soul food/southern/cajun restaurants. I was really anticipating the dinner, as was my son. In a nutshell it was awful. The macaroni and cheese was runny, the fried chicken bland. The appetizers weren't bad. It was as if the cook forgot that soul food and southern cooking is supposed to be flavorful, not just fancy. On top of the underwhelming food, the waiter messed up my bill and charged me twice, causing my account to be charged fees. The "accountant" was rude, both to myself and my bank, and basically just stopped answering my calls. In summary, if you want good southern cooking (or any other type), go elsewhere.

Hattie's hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
