Approximately half of the U.S. population has venous disease and is one of the most common conditions affecting our health. While many people have visible varicose veins, others may have no visible signs of the disease. Venous disease can affect men and women of all ages and activity levels, and while it has a strong genetic component, can be aggravated by environmental risks, pregnancy, and other factors.

Is this actually true? The short answer is no! However, if you already have varicose veins, sitting for long periods of time in general, with your legs crossed or not, can worsen the situation because the blood sitting around in those varicose veins can pool, slow down and potentially clot.
