This is one really lucky pigeon. This Cooper's Hawk actually had it pinned on the ground for just over a minute. Unfortunately for the hawk - fortunately for the pigeon - a car drove by and (possibly on purpose) scared the hawk away.

I went to Presqu'ile Provincial Park again yesterday for a ten-hour birding marathon. Once again I did a tour of some of the cottages for some backyard, or in this case front yard, birding.

Last week for Squirrel Saturday I posted a shot of a red Squirrel poking his head out of a hole in a tree. This shot was taken a few days later and it is the same tree, the same hole and as far as I know the same squirrel.

Last Thursday I stopped by Humber Bay Park to see what was there. This juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron and a bunch of her friends didn't appreciate my visit and took off.

I don't have a backyard so I don't get much of an opportunity to do backyard birding. Back at the end of July I visited Presqu'ile Provincial Park which is about 150KM east of Toronto. Just outside of Presqu'ile are some cottages and one on the cottagers is an avid birder that welcomes everyone onto his property to view the birds and butterflies that visit his garden and feeders.

Thank you +Celeste Odono. Those cottages are really nice and the Brighton bay-side cottages do have an amazing view of the lake. This cottage is actually on the land side but either side would be a nice place to own.

I'm guessing it's much MUCH worse on the East Coast, but the wind is really starting to gust here in Toronto. If you haven't done so already everyone, batten down the hatches and stay safe.

It's kicking up pretty hard here outside of Detroit, last I heard was 22' seas predicted on Lake Erie.

As I approach the end of sorting through and processing over 50,000 bird images I have shot in the last year I come across shots like this that I took in the spring. In the process of playing around I do have to wonder if I have gone too far by entirely removing the background from this shot?

I have a new visitor on my balcony today. While I don't mind having squirrels visit me, this is a one-day visit for this little guy. I don't want him nesting here so if he comes back tomorrow I will have to call Wildlife services to come get him.

+Julie Ellis He didn't show up yesterday but I did find he left me a present that I really didn't want. I have thoroughly cleaned the balcony so hopefully if he comes back today he won't find it inviting.

+Tony Zhou, I wouldn't say they are like a fox except both animals are crafty and sneaky.

I finally was lucky enough today to have a Brown Creeper stay out in the open and out in the sun long enough (about one second) for me to get a good shot.

It is an old building with horrendous parking and the elevators are in desperate need of repair. They only come to "clean" the room once every three days; that's no big deal because I don't need someone to make my bed for me. However, they only left one day's worth of supplies and argued with me telling me I only need to call for what I need. I shouldn't have to call, supplies should be there ready for me to use. I was there for a business trip and my employer chose and paid for the hotel, but if I have any say, future trips to Edmonton will not include this hotel.

I just received a phone call that my package was ready for pick up. Did you even attempt to deliver it? There was no paper left. The phone call was automated with a long package number and when I pressed "1" to replay the message so I could grab a pen and write the number down but it hung up on me. I thought UPS was bad but Purolator is worse.
